Has anyone been known to be a top gun shooting a 20 guage at trap?

If memory serves me correctly seems I remember Brad Dysinger doing quite well shooting a 20 ga., at 16's anyway.

I'm guessing 20ga would be ok for singles & might be a lot of fun for doubles, but with 1 1/8oz loads for hcp, a light 20ga could be brutal; especially shooting 100 targets.

Absolutely. I’ve seen it with my own eyes. A guy named “Skeeter” in my old league shot a 20-gauge at trap for three straight seasons and consistently broke 23–24 out of 25. He wasn’t just “good for a 20”, he was a top gun, period. Beat most of the 12-gauge guys on the line, including me. He said the lighter gun kept him from flinching, and with modern 7/8 oz loads at 1200 fps, he had more than enough payload to smoke targets from the 16-yard line. On a calm day, he’d step back to 22 yards and still give us fits.

I’ve shot trap for over 20 years, including competitive leagues, and I’ve seen exactly one guy who was genuinely top-tier with a 20 gauge. His name was Jerry, retired Air Force, steady as a rock. He’d break 24 or 25 straight with a little 20 gauge semi-auto while everyone else was hauling 12-gauge over/unders.

Moe, I remember being on a squad with Brad when he broke an event high score of 94 from 27yds with his 302 beretta 20 guage. Missing 4 on 1 trap.
