Why the ATA teams up with the IDNR to have a shoot with an international name (U. S. Open) up against 2 of our larger shoots, Buckeye Classic and the Empire Grand is questionable. The ATA is awarding points when there were only 195 people in the handicap event. Joke
It doesn't bother the CC to bleed off attendance from the Great Lakes Grand and the Grand. They make Ohio shooters make a hard choice of what to attend. How many shooters get that many weeks off. Actually a good marketing move by CC. You must be a points shooter if it bothers you. But the continuing bashing of the ATA who is trying obviously to grow the sport puzzles me. Fishburn is obviously is a smart man who appreciates what the ATA means to the success of the CC, shown by adding categories this year. I would also think he doesn't like the constant bickering between a limited number of Ohio shooters and the rest of the shooting world, it makes the CC look bad and keeps some shooters away. The ATA is far from perfect but show me something that is, even the CC has faults. Lefty
The ATA and IDNR wishes it was just a "limited number of Ohio shooters". From the numbers, shooters that shot last years GAH (1600) and the MILLIONS of dollars the place has LOST since the move, I would think they they would be ecstatic if it WAS just a "limited number of Ohio shooters" Flyersarebest
Left is looking out for the Ohio shooters. (giggling) I am sure the folks in Ohio were not conflicted as to whether they should travel 11 hours to an anti gun state or travel to Michigan or shoot at the CC. Ohioans have shown they like the state of Michigan. They did not help build the MI venue. Most that go to Sparta have to go to Sparta. Good thing we have Left looking out for them Buckeyes. (giggling again)
Since they decided to run against some of the largest shoots in the country they might be better off re-naming it the Illinois Open. After all, where did most of the shooters come from and who did they expect to attend?
Smithy; I shot the first U.S. Open that was held at Sparta. I was a nice shoot, I do not remember it being very large. Do not blame the C.C. for taking shooters from other shoots. Shooters go where the have the most fun and where it is easiest to get to. The pool of shooters is shrinking every day, the large shoots have less shooters to pull their attendance from. Until this trend is reversed it will continue to happen, the Ohio and Pa. shooters support their home state clubs this a natural move. The Michigan shooters will have to get used to Ohio beating them at attendance. they got used to being whipped up on at FOOTBALL didn't they. Mr. Forsbach would have loved this. Roger Coveleskie
Mr. Forsbach would not have liked the petty sniping by certain shooters. Yes he loved his Buckeyes and disliked the wolverines like many but he took it when the roles were reversed. I'm sure a couple of you could offend some more shooters and turn them off about the CC too. If I was Mr. Fishburn I would hate to have you as my PR man. So giggle like a little girl because you have shown you have no business sense. Lefty
Lefty You that hates all that is Ohio come on here and state that having the Cardinal Center is making it difficult on Ohioans to make a choice certainly is something to giggle at. How can anyone keep a straight face hearing that statement? I saw the pictures of the Buckeye shoot. Those poor fellows at the shoot did not look unhappy. lol Even the pooches enjoyed themselves. Thanks for looking out for the poor Ohioans. As far as Michigan shooters. I saw several at the Buckeye and I had some friends that went to Michigan to shoot. Fantastic place to shoot! As far as PR, having a shoot called the U.S. Open that had fewer shooters in the caps than the prelims for the Buckeye, shows our sport as being impotent. Then we had the fiasco last year where we handed out points for a shoot that did not deserve points. Again breaking our own rules to prop up a failed venue. Would the U.S. Open have better attendance in Wisconsin or Texas? I suppose it is just a name. A sport used to use the name "open" as describing a major event. We used to use the word grand to describe a big event as well. Thanks for the laugh Lefty.
The CC is the best venue I have seen. The only better venue was Vandalia. What would you expect would happen? I don't get how the venue is hurting Ohioans. I would like to smoke some of that.
Smithy I think you need to take a reading comprehension course. No where did I state I hated Ohio or Ohio shooters. I also complimented Mr. Fishburn on his marketing sense and from a marketing side he helps the Ohio shooter make the decision. I will try to explain again. If a shooter has limited funds and time off then he has to make a decision to travel or shoot Ohio the next week, no brainer he stays home in Ohio. If I hate Ohio so much why would I shoot 4000 plus targets there? Not only can't you comprehend you can't judge people either. How many targets do you and FAB shoot there if any? Why don't you just go shoot and quit bitching about the ATA and anything non Ohio. Enjoy life it will be over before you know it. Lefty
Those are your words. They should just bulldoze the place and the decision would be easier right. lol Face it Lefty you are an Ohio basher. All can see it. You have successful venue envy. I am not sure I know who FAB is you seem to hate so much. Your hateful posts are on record and personal attacks as well. You say you have shot 4000 at the CC. We will have to take your word on that. And who really would care? No one is allowed to criticize the Kings of the ATA? Sounds like another site. Doing a great job on that aren't they. Little over 1600 shooters in the GAH. 2/3 of the membership is gone. A little over 1600 shooters in the GAH. Any leadership of a private company with such a record would resign. Blame it on Fishburn and someone from Ohio. I at least came up with some solutions. Wouldn't it be better to have the U.S. Open in Texas or Wisconsin. Even the IDNR believes Sparta is a failed venue.
Leftout: Cardinal did not add categories, they picked up shoots that Jaquas had to cacnel, he named one of them after his Late wife "KARENS CUP" first shoot was a fair turnout, when you look at it being up against the Pa. State shoot. There were no vendors as they were setting up in Pa. This was a good business decision, trying to keep the dates going for shooters to have a place to shoot. I was there for one of his Fishburn Burgers that are from his cattle, and a bowl of Chicken & Noodles. I did try one of the 8 sisters donuts that had nuts and Bacon on it, and the best Custard style filling. I need a wheelchair w/Fat tires to traverse the gravel. Hoping to have my new Hydraulic Foot prosthesis in place in 2 weeks. Gary Bryant Dr.longshot
"It doesn't bother the CC to bleed off attendance from the Great Lakes Grand and the Grand." Are you implying it should? It sure sounds like it by the use of the words BOTHER and BLEED. How does the CC BLEED off attendance from the, what used to be, the GRAND? I didn't know the CC shot the same dates as sparta. "But the continuing bashing of the ATA who is trying obviously to grow the sport puzzles me." Here we go again, another shooter reading, and from the looks of it, believing all that "the ATA isn't perfect but it's all we have" CRAP. "The ATA is far from perfect but show me something that is, even the CC has faults" There it is, right on cue. And the only fault I can see at the CC is that it it isn't bigger. Say by about 40-50 more traps? Then your words BLEED OFF would be correct. And BTW, name the faults. No one will say you are BASHING the CC. You don't have to be afraid to say anything on this site. If anyone questions the "all holy" ATA the first thing that pops out of some peoples mouths is the word BASHING. Give it a rest leftout. On this site, if someone questions the ATA they don't get THAT crap. That kool-aid drinking belongs somewhere else. If a shooter has limited funds and time off then he has to make a decision to travel or shoot Ohio the next week, no brainer he stays home in Ohio. And you really think that all of the people, the thousands that used to shoot the GAH in Vandalia, now have limited funds? That is why they don't, and won't, make the pilgrimage to sparta? "If I hate Ohio so much why would I shoot 4000 plus targets there?" I never thought you hated Ohio. Just the shooters in Ohio that question your "all holy" ATA. "How many targets do you and FAB shoot there if any?" See the posts about the old site and how some of those people used to use the same LAME crap. How many you shoot doesn't mean jack. I don't shoot registered targets as much as I used to because of reasons that are really no ones business but my own but I will say that 4000 number you posted doesn't impress me. Now if that is just 16's and you have another thousand from other states and 6K or 7K more combined caps and doubles to go with those 4000 then I would say those are impressive numbers. How would I know what it was like to shoot 10 thousand combined registered targets per year? Because this isn't my first, second, third, or even 40th year shooting Trap. That's how. If you had looked at my post titled, "SO, you think Trapshooting cost too much" you might be able to figure out why I don't register a lot of targets anymore. "Why don't you just go shoot and quit bitching about the ATA and anything non Ohio." I don't live in Ohio. Why don't you quit "bitching" about the people that think the ATA screwed up? "Enjoy life it will be over before you know it." See the sentence two lines up. Flyersarebest
LEFTOUT: has the right web site name, he leaves himself out of good trapshooting that is still around, and a club that is adding shoots to it's venue, not his wrongly stated categories. He named one after his late wifes passing, called it the Karen Cup, for his information. He even had som Michigan Shooters there on there way to the Pa. state shoot. Gary Bryant Dr.longshot
Gary I said categories not shoot dates. Look at the buckeye program: 2 ladies instead of one, sub-vet, jr gold. You guys just can't wait to jump on someone who doesn't sing the party tune. FAB I won't tell you many targets I shoot or have shot as you would turn it into something ugly. Lefty
I expect that to change. Too many categories! I think you can be clear on something.....very few on this site put more credence on a person that shot 100,000 targets vs someone that shot 1,000. A person that has shot over a hundred thousand registered targets received a lifetime achievement award for being instrumental in removing the sport from our game. Save the "I shot more than you" for someone that gives a rat's ass. Just my 02 Lefty
Wrong site leftout. THAT is what happens on that old site. I didn't ask how many. You posted that 4000 number that, I can only assume, you thought was impressive. To you?, maybe. To a shooter that started 44 years ago and spent EVERY extra nickel they earned to shoot, travel to 5 or 6 state shoots and shoot every target they threw at Vandalia, not so much. I know, That was then Let go of the past Times change People had more money ( The Hardy Classic Sporting event last weekend had quite a few EX "registered" ATA shooters, guys that shot 8K + per year, paying a lot more money for 200 than they would have paid if they went somewhere to shoot Trap. Win your CLASS, win $1000.00.) The grand is in sparta, get over it You all are just "bashing" the ATA If you don't like the FRIGGIN 9-10 hour drive just shut up and don't say anything about the move (I must not be the only one. 1600 shooters for the GAH?) The targets are fine (Especially for that guy last year on the 18) No need to change anything (See the above reference to the 18) We are all just a bunch of "has beens" (That remember the golden years when a 97 at the Grand PAID for the whole week plus enough to buy a new TM1) I probably forgot a few and since I don't bother to even look at the crap the 4 stooges post on that old site anymore so you would have to add to the list. Flyersarebest
You could misconstrue day from night. I was the accused of being a Ohio hater. I used the targets to counter why I hate Ohio if I shot that many targets. I don't shoot to impress the likes of you because you know everything. Do you ever get tired of patting each other on the back and driving off posters. No sense in having an opposing view. I noticed the high number of daily posters with huge topic numbers, could be your attitude towards others. Lefty
Lefty I am no longer on another site cause you and your pals chased me here. Face it. You need a 12 step group for CC haters. They seem to be doing very well here. Bashing this site isn't going to help your cause. You do come off as an Ohio hater. And who wonders why? The people on this site are not all Ohioans. Flyer is not an Ohioan. I have seen the crap you have posted elsewhere. We don't see much of that here. I hope never. The poorly name Open shoot is a flop because of the venue and the fact that the State of Illinois is running it. Not because of posters here. As Oleolliedawg said: Makes sense doesn't it?!
One last time I don't hate CC, Ohio shooters or the state of Ohio. Langer if anyone drove you anywhere it wasn't me. You guys try to have fun and enjoy life. Lefty
