I will be loading my AA Super Hdcps w/ 22 grs 800-X 1 1/8th oz 1200fps GB.........................DLS
Why do U need 1200 fps? maybe yardage?? I do fine with 1145 fps up to 20 yds. I will use 1200 fps on a windy day with 7 1/2 shot 1 1/8 oz Most of the time it's the Indian not the arrow JMO SJB
I couldn't find the poster of the American Indian on horseback holding a compound bow over his head and the caption, What if? That one was better As far as the 1145-1200 thing and which is better for what distance? Without hours of research and testing specific cases, primers, powder, wads, guns, barrel length, chokes, distance, temperature, wind, barometric pressure, and the MOST important, the Coriolis effect, along with about 144 graphs/charts, I couldn't make an informed decision. Sorry
Everyone seems to have the answers as to what is right, they never finish the saying by adding "what is right for them " ... I shoot the same shells for everything I shoot and it seems to be right for me, only because they are the only shells I have on hand ... Handicap 7 1/2's for everything ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
I know YAC I was just wondering why DR Longshot seem to say he is getting ready to load up on 1200 fps. No matter----One of the best shooters at one of my clubs uses 1 oz 8s for all 16yds and is a A-AA shooter. Yesterday in 15mi hr winds he shot a 99 with that load. his load is 1170fps.. If it fits you have to commit---- SJB
You ever wonder why if you picked 10 shooters at random you would get 10 different shells, among thousands of other things (chokes, powder, wads, barrels, porting, etc.) related that are the best, or work the best. That pretty much proves that everything pretty much works equally, it is the brain that makes them all different.
The best reload you can get is the one you have the most confidence in. Too much thinking shooting trap will get you in trouble every time.
One man's junk is another man's treasure, or so it's said. I mean some guys still shoot pumps and automatics rather that tricked out "Unguns with multi-barrels." Hummm, maybe I should break out the old Model 12, and 1100. I haven't tried that in about a decade or so. Come to think of it, I've got both....junk and treasure. Perhaps, I'm n a better position than I thought I was....
I was a dealer at one time, have shot most anything and everything out there but I am going back to my Model 12 when I start shooting again ... Don't know why I went the Perazzi route but really do think highly of them also ... Shot a K-32 for a while a long time ago but my Father would not sell it so I gave it back to him and went to Perazzi MX8 combo's, TMX, TM-1, 1100, even had a Kolar combo for 2 days and sold it ... I'm seriously thinking about thinning out the guns in my safes, don't want my wife to be selling them for what I told her I paid for them if I die ... We are not getting any younger and now even my favorite beer has a virus named after it ... I have a chit load of shells to shoot up or sell if I do not shoot all of them just playing and shooting for fun ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
Shot some of my best scores with a Model 12 !! Even shot a 97 on doubles a few years ago at Red Mountain !!
