Just be careful with your stuff if you are at the Grand. I left my shooting cart in the parking lot and went for lunch. Came back half hour later and it was gone! I strongly suspect the couple who was parked next to me and saw when I left. Never expected a trapshooter to steal like this. Makes me sick! 24 hours passed and it was not turned in to lost and found so I assume it's gone. I would have preferred to give them the cart if they couldn't afford it. What next? Stealing guns?? If you see someone using a blue rugged gear gun cart and they said they won it at the Grand you know the story LOL.
Sorry to hear about this Mike J. By chance that "couple" didn't look like sparta sid and sparta#2 did they? Just kidding boys, don't run back and tell the duty watch I said you were thieves. On a serious note, Charger said he saw one sitting on the outer edge of a lot, maybe someone "borrowed" your cart and then left it. Check back with the security department or, if they have a lost and found desk, check with them. BTW, If you post this anywhere else be ready to be called a liar and a sparta basher.
Years ago at the Grand in Vandalia I heard a story. Don't know if it was true but maybe somebody else heard the same story. Some guy or guys had a master set of GM keys. They went through the parking lot at the Grand and opened the trunk of Cadillacs. They opened the cases they found in the trunk and took the guns out of em and left the cases in the trunk. Owner gets ready to leave looks in trunk - sees case is there thinks gun is in case and heads down the road. Doesn't find out that gun is gone till he gets home and is miles down the road. Anybody else hear that story? This was suppose to have happened in 70s or 80s. Sorry for your loss of cart. Do you think maybe somebody took it by mistake? To somebody renting a cart they might all look alike, and they took the wrong one. Of course if they did that - then they should have left theirs's there for you.
I remember thieves putting small stickers on nice cars during Grand and cruising hotel lots at night looking for them.
Yes, that was it. But good news, I just got a call from the police and they said they got the cart. He is even bringing it over to the hotel. The police/ conservation office have been great to work with especially the Sargent I have been talking to.
Great, glad you got it back. I figured someone didn't wan to carry their stuff so they "borrowed" your cart then left it next to where they parked. Same kind of jerks that push the shopping cart out of the parking lot and leave it at the bus stop across a highway 200 yards from the store. Saw that yesterday on our way to the casino
No it was taken from the premises. I want to thank Officer Steven Vasicek for tracking it down for me and even going out of his was to drop it off at the hotel. I believe this site could have played a part in the cart being returned because "the word was out there."
Glad you got it back, heard from the trenches it was turned in to the wrong location by a shooter and got taken to lost and found today. I would like to think "most" of us shooters are honest people...
Brad, Yes, I do believe the vast majority of trapshooters are honest that's why I left my cart and went to lunch. Not going to do that anymore because someone could think I forgot it and left. The doubles were still to be shot and I figured that people might realize that I would be back. I did write my name and phone number on the cart now just in case. Anyway, just before I posted on this site I spoke to Officer Vasicek and the cart was not located at that point. Not sure where it was turned in but it never made it to the ATA lost and found. I understand there were some screw up in turning it in. All good case closed.
You would have to ask him. First he said it was HIS cart then later said it was someone else's cart but he was permitted to tell the "story" as if it was his. ?????? Maybe he borrowed the cart, forgot where he left it, and to cover his stupidity said it was stolen. More than one LIE in there somewhere. Tell one lie and it's pretty hard to believe ANYTHING they say.
One year at the Missouri handicap an Ohio shooter had his Trapgun stolen, the following year they stole his shells out of his van, I told him next year they are going to steal the Entry Money, he has since died, His name was CHOPS from Southeast, Ohio, Oak Hill Ohio. He got caught speeding on year by Missouri State Patrol, he told him I clocked you at 85 MPH, Chops told him if you had clocked me near the top of the hill I was going 100mph. And they took his license till he paid the speeding ticket. I was in the middle of traffic leaving the Fall Handicap pulling my Boat w/my new wife and got pulled over for speeding, I said to him you pulled me over because I had Ohio Plates, finally after running check he let me go w/a warning.
