Going in for orthoscopic rotor cuff tear surgery on Mar 12---Interested in anyone with like surgery recovery and how long to be able to rehab and get back to shooting. Thanks
I have had both solder done in the last 3 years. You will be in a sling with a football like attached to for about 6 to 8 weeks. Then 4 to 8 weeks therapy depending on you. Thing to think about is getting a good recliner to sleep in. One with motor that can be set at any seting. I have a catnaper cloud 12. If you would like to talk about this up come surgery pm with phone number and I will give you a call. Thanks Sgoose
Thanks Sgoose---You gave me a lot of help and info---Don't know if this site is ok with giving out e-mail or phone numbers.I don't want to make a mistake.I looked under rules, couldn't find the rule. Thanks SJB
Had my done in March three years ago --Did make the summer league --should have taken it off -- Many different rotor cuff surgeries -- What got me back to shooting was a Jones adjustable recoil pad fitted in and down off my surgery point --Shoulder never will be the same but a good fitter will keep you shooting
southjblue, Had both rebuilt about 10 years ago. Had one replaced about 6 months ago. Rehab was less on replacement than on rebuild. Make sure you do your therapy faithfully. Do not do more than a good therapist sets up for your recovery. Look for a therapist that has a doctor degree in therapy, as all therapist are not equal in ability. Good luck on a full recovery. Thanks Roger and rrisum---my concern is ability to keep shooting both trap and hunting---It's my shooting shoulder. Also my golf game.Great to be retired???could be worse---SJB
just for a rotator cuff rebuild, you will be back to shooting, how soon depends entirely on how enthusied about your rehab my went for 16 weeks 3 times a week and was as good as new and eased into shooting a couple of months later the 3 things to remember are therapy, thearpy, and therapy. Mac
Private message, "start a conversation", good to go. It works great for people talking to one another.
UP-date on shoulder surgery---My shoulder pain has decreased. Now 90% pain free. Considering to avoid surgery. Investigated surgery options and find that in many many cases that surgery was a poor result. Talked with very reputable therapist that advise to only have surgery when the arm is useless and pain is unbearable. Going to shoot 100 tgts-(my 2 -guns have soft touch recoil systems) and a few holes of golf, both with some ibuprofen.(not the same day).My therapist says that pain is part of aging and we have to learn to live with it. Will try the best I can. SJB
Very smart To try therapy first --I jumped right in to surgery --didn't want to miss out on our league shoots --After all the pain, and finding out the high percentage of friend that did not have good results. I surely would have taken that route first. It is the shit when we work our whole life to enjoy retirement and the old body is shot
You are correct to avoid surgery if possible .I had problem with both shoulders at different times .got right shoulder operation done pain went but not the same grip or feel in hand after no operation on left shoulder but more grip and feel in left hand.I am right handed but left hand getting a lot more use now
So far I am 90% pain free---Had 3rd cortisone shot and it kicked in after 3 wks---Note-- Only had 1 cortisone shot this yr----The other 2 were past 2 yrs---I have shot aprox 1000 tgts since my decision to wait for surgery. On shoulder exercise and it is helping. THANK GOD FOR THE SOFT TOUCH RECOIL SYSTEM. I don't feel any recoil--- shooting 1145 and 1200 fps 1 oz and 1 1/8 loads---also played golf last wk pain free. Golf game sucks but I won't give up till the LORD says STOP---- Don't laugh----My hip is acting up----Took x-rays and no replacement necessary-- How about U guys----any problems????---- KEEP SHOOTING----WAT'S A LITTLE PAIN---Think about all our pain trying to raise our families ----THE DEMS will give us anything we want FREE---- Thanks for watching--George@SJB
