The Museum is awesome. I went there 6 times, 5 while at the Grand (Vandalia). Worth the trip, amazing parts of history that can only be seen there.
Will do. The place is huge, hanger after hanger. Did not have much time the first day. Going back soon. The plane below is the one that dropped the second Atomic bomb on Japan. More pics on this plane later.
I haven't been there since the Grand left Vandalia. I only shot handicap and doubles at the Grand, when it was singles day I would head to the Air Force Museum. Great place to visit. Another great museum is the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola.
General Tibbits was a trapshooter, and he shot at Airport Gun Club in Lancaster, Ohio, I met him and congratulated him on hes service to America. GB............................DLS
If you go on the Air Force Museum website there are a ton of pictures plus video tours. Very neat place. General Paul Tibbets flew the Enola Gay on the 1st nuclear bomb drop on Hiroshima. Boxcar dropped the 2nd bomb on Nagasaki. Japan surrendered & good thing as we didn't have another bomb readily available at the time. (But we could have made one!) The Museum also has replicas of both bombs. (It's ok, they aren't real). LOL I think Enola Gay is at the Smithsonian?
