The Martins are very generous people and do not have to disclose any financial contributions if they choose not to ... I have serious doubt the grand would of happened without their support not only this year but for the past few years ... I'm not sure I would question how much they contributed, but be thank full they did ... It is truly sad as in "Pathetic" that the ATA has come to this over many years of successful operation ... The ATA should of eliminated the ED, and EC many years ago and hired a Professional Company as the operations manager of the organization to over see the daily, weekly, monthly and annual operations as well as monitor all of the registered shoots .. The ATA has guys like Bradford who make stupid statements like its a Corporate decision and may not benefit the membership (?) ... The ATA could of maintained control by having an elected board of maybe 3 /5 and the BOD to make sure the Operations Managing Company was operating progressively but was beneficial to the members as well as the ATA itself ... The ED, EC and many on the BOD are not qualified to be in such a position even though there is probably an abundance of talent in a combined form, there is a lot of dead weight milking the ATA 's Cash Cow ... This is something that should of happened probably 20 years ago rather than allow the ATA to become dependent on Signature Sponsors to make sure things happen ... Bradford of all people being in charge of the relocation Committee is (WAS) a joke, what are his qualifications ..? The move was made in desperation to assure people there would not be a missed year or maybe two of the existence of the grand, desperation cause mistakes by not taking the time to think it through ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
Yes it is hard to believe the ATA can not support it's biggest shoot of the year, and probably others. It seems they have been more than eager to take a hand-out from people like the Hunter's and the Martin's.
I guess along the way, and over the years, we should be thanking Bill Hunter and his wife Ruthie, along with the Martins. They supported the SPORT they loved. Too bad the ATA took too much advantage of these fine people.
Yes, many thanks to the Hunters, who, if I'm correct, sponsored many Life Memberships each year. Regards.....Gerald
I talk to Bill Hunter once in awhile on the phone, he and Ruthie gave a lot of ATA memberships and footed the bill for the HOF for years.
