Factory Ammo Only - Bring back the shell house!

Anytime there are trophies donated by the ATA there should be a rule mandating factory loads bought on the grounds of the shoot.

Get rid of the roll yer own mentality. Jmho

 

I think the ATA has some exposure by allowing novices to use reloads.

 

Hell yeah, I remember those days. Standing in line at the shell house before a big ATA registered shoot, buying a couple flats of factory loads right there on the grounds, same shells everyone else was running. No guessing if the guy next to you spent all winter tinkering with his reloads trying to shave a few thousandths off his pattern or squeeze out an extra yard. Just pure, level playing field.

 

A lot of posts on here are complaining about the cost of things…you want to make it more expensive?

Also- if you think you’re getting beat at ATA trap because of the shells…you’re not.

 

It isn't about the cost. It is about the rewards. The ATA destroyed the handicap system. The shells are faster. The targets are easier. The lust for the big payday is gone.

Then they made it even more expensive with the creepy move.

The ATA chased the blue collar shooter away. Removing factory ammo removed the ammo companies.

 

The handicap system is a different subject, I have no idea why you’re bringing that into this equation. Removing ammo companies? I don’t know about around you but years ago a lot more people shot reloads than they do now. Also your comment about faster shells is irrelevant in this discussion because…they would be selling 1250 FPS shells, like they did at the Grand (in Vandalia, too).

Back in the "shell house days" the only time you could purchase the hot loads the Big Shooters got for free was at the Vandalia Shell House. If you know the ammo game, hotter runs are set aside. Guess who gets those.

When you got a flat of shells that said Grand American you could tell the difference. Fed papers at Vandalia were the rage!

Today's lite ammo is what the 3 dram used to be. The faster is 3 1/4 dram equivalent.
Lots of my friends purchased the Vandalia ammo for Dove.
