For a good laugh or a great opportunity to make some $$$--go look @ Gun Broker and see what 12 ga target ammo is going for !!!
I have never been one to take advantage of a situation or put the hurt on others just because the situation presents itself ... This type of stuff will ruin shooting sports faster than anything else because people do not like to be taken advantage of for reasons beyond their control ... Gouging shooters is one of my PETT Peeve's and probably always will be .... WPT ... (YAC) ...
Honestly I don't think people who are paying big $$ for a flat of target ammo are real shooters, they are looking for anything that will work in their shotgun (home defense)
My home defense loads are Handicap 7 1/2's or 8's , if one don't kill you the other one will ... Don't need anything more than that and can justify having them around the house (Trap loads) ... I carry a base ball bat in my car, my lawyer said make sure you carry a glove and ball also in case you need to justify having the bat ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
Just received my Complimentary 2021 ATA membership application. With no shells, I guess they just now, once again, need members to boost the numbers.
I received one today also. The one I received was not for me but a friend of mine. Do you think I should print it out and give it to him? I am still wondering why it came to me. Maybe they were afraid of the response they might have received from him.
I went looking for ammo yesterday. Went to 5 different places Wally, Rural King, Academy, and a couple of local places. The only shotgun shells I could find was at Wally - and all they had were 4 boxes of 28 gauge shells. Shelves wiped bare. I stopped reloading years ago after I ran out of $12.50 a bag shot and found out I could purchase Remington Gun Clubs from Rural King for $25 a flat when they were on sale. (yeah that was probably 15-20 years ago). When lead went to $40 a bag I figured it was still cheaper to buy Gun Clubs for $5 a box. Then I switched over to the 4 pack Wally shells for $21 something. Now it looks like I can buy neither shells nor reloading supplies. I got about 700 - 1000 rounds around the house and that is it. Was going to go out and shoot a round of doubles when it warmed up a bit, but if I can't replace em - hell I ain't even going to shoot those. Never thought there would be a shortage of shotgun shells - what kind of war you going to fight with 7 1/2 and 8s?? So why hoard them?
You can do a lot of damage at 21 feet with a 7 1/2 or 8. That is the distance of the average gun fight. Swat teams in cities use trap loads inside so they don't shoot trough apartment walls, at least they used to. You can also make a "Western" slug out of a trap load very easily. Right now the demands for primers are going into high dollar personal defense shells. I wouldn't be expecting many trap loads or primers for sale for the foreseeable future. Rebates will be gone, I say for at least 4 years. This could be Biden's fantastic direction for the country, not so much Gibson's fantastic direction for the ATA. Welcome to 2021 and beyond.
I spent over an hour last night looking for primers. Every site was out of stock. Did find one site that had Wolf primers as many as you want for $789.00 for a sleeve of 5000. No wonder they have all you want. Another sit had them for $14.95, I thought not bad for 1000. NOOO that was for a card of 100.
It’s not just gun broker I was at fin feather fur today. Nitro 27 100 packs were $50. AAs were 12.99 a box, top guns were 89.99 a flat. Primers were 8.00 per 100
The Fin has always been 15-20% higher for trap loads. I heard Sportsmans Den Northwest of the CC was much cheaper. You were limited to a only a few flats at a time.
I bought AAs at fin less than a month ago for 80ish a flat. They raised their prices $5 a box since then. The 100 pack nitros were also $40 at that time sportsmans den was $83 I believe for the big three “premium” shells with a 2 flat per week limit ( I haven’t been there in 2 weeks so who knows if that’s still accurate)
