If the walk ways at a club are terrible condition, cracked , not level as much as 4" s tilted, can you go one yard back to shoot on a level platform

I'd say if you can occupy the 27 yard line with a78 average what the heck. Stand where you want. The ATA has no rules.

Technically no you cannot but you can ask for a yardage increase so you can avoid the tilted platform, problem is you have to stay there until you get a reduction, rather point out the problem and get moved to another field other wise you have to shoot at your ATA yardage ... There is nothing to be won or big money played any more so if you shoot a 78 from the 27, so what ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

The jackpot at the Casa Grande Trap and Skeet club in Arizona is now $45,520. Must play the money and then break 100 straight in any ATA handicap event. If no winner, the jackpot keeps increasing at the rate of $20 per entry.

This thread reminds me a lot of the old tri-state shoot. Maybe the best shoot ever. The good squares could only handle one shoe. The non-newbies would straddle some walks. You needed at strategy before walking to line. Sometimes left foot sometimes, sometimes right foot. Depended on the angle of the dirt. And on occasion depth of the water.

Very rare but it will obviously be there for awhile, last time I shot Casa Grande (its been a while ) the targets were tough as hell ... Have not gone out there for a number of years, my personal protest against the ATA and the way they do business over the past 20 years ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

I'm pretty sure about the club and I for one appreciate your generosity. However, at that club, you're just a trapshooter and to them that's all you'll ever be.

Here is the rule from the ATA rule book pertaining as to where to stand. Page 30, Sec E Read the part on Exceptions.
If the pad or is uneven and not equal to what it should be, you may move aside to a level place. I would think this is only for 16's and doubles or unless I am interpreting the rule wrong, only for wheelchairs????

    10. When firing, the contestant’s feet must be behind the firing mark at 16- yards, or behind the mark for the Handicap yardage assigned to him/ her, depending upon the event being participated in.The contestant must stand with at least one foot on an imaginary line drawn through the center of the trap and continuing through the center of the post, or have one foot on each side of the line. Exceptions to the rule contained in the second sentence of this paragraph may be granted by the referee/scorer due to inequalities in the shooting platform, and shall be granted for wheelchair contestants. Wheelchair contestants shall position their chair so that the center of mass of their body is over the place where they would stand as required by this rule if no chair were used.

Several years ago I witnessed shoot offs for the Indiana State Shoot 16 yard championship and the shooters stood off to the right of post one maybe 16 inches because the concrete was all busted up. I don't know what you would do in handicap. Perhaps you could back up to the rear of your yardage marker or stand with one foot in the grass if that would help.
