Ok I’ve shot registered trap for a hella lot of years luckily enough to win some serious tournaments including attaining my “Grand Slam” trapshooting was my life however (always a “however”) that was then this is now…I'm old (very old) and I still shoot (non registered) trap, 5 stand, sporting and honestly trap is boring but that changed when I shot 16 yard WOBBLE trap…gosh damn that was sooo much more fun and challenging. We often ponder ideas about the future of trapshooting change the target speed, the angles, the yardage, the gauges how’s bout just changing the 16 yard trap to throw WOBBLE targets…yes the moaners will say it’s still a miss n out game, the big name shooters will dominate blah blah blah….BUT yes (you all know it) it’s time for a change. Handicap and doubles remain the same. What say you guys???

I have rows under my reloading table. Skeet, 5-std, trap and SC. As I go thru each row that's what I'm shooting. Do I have a fav ? Not really, because I think each discipline makes one a better all around shooter. Currently finishing up my 28ga skeet. Up next 410, 625rds, then move to the 5std course.

I found that as I got older and was having trouble shooting ATA trap competition because of physical problems, the answer for me was switching to skeet. Much easier on the body, stopped worrying so much about the scores and enjoy conversation with my friends as we move around the field. Seems like a good place to stop off for a while on your way to the nursing home. (Hopefully a long while).

Comparing Shotgun sports to golf, my comparison is Trap is the driving range -skeet is the putting green and sporting is the course. Just have to make the trap field a little fun at the end of the night. Try games with a wobble or trap from a skeet overlay. Helps keep people around at the end of the night.

I tried to get our club to purchase a wobble trap when the time came to replace a worn out trap that we had. It got shot down bigtime, it was feared that to many ego's wouldn't be able to handle the lower scores.

Fear of the unknown one heck of a motivator…”I ain’t gonna shoot wobble targets they fly all over the place”…that’s correct…”wobble no way it would sink my 16 yard average”…oh boy that's important…the unknown many times generates a negative (ok some age related ) mind set remember when sporting clays was in it’s infancy? The naysayers “knew for sure” it would never catch on…ya and remember early explorers knew the World was flat. So now spirited discussion suggests traps future “salvation” is guaranteed by the title wave of the thousands of kids who love scatterguning. Wanna test? Let the youngsters shoot a round of old trap and a round of wobble.

Agreed. Wobble is a good way to occasionally spice up trap life. I'm no skeet shooter by any stretch, and rarely ever do it. Two weeks ago at a local club in Morris Il. I shot three rounds of skeet with a newer shooting friend and I had a ball. Really enjoyed doing something different.

More Olympic trap shooting availability would be interesting.

Vandalia used to have thousands of people watching shoot offs. They were sitting on roofs and in trees.
The targets were more challenging then. Shells were slower.

I was at the Great Grudge Match at the Cardinal Center. Nothing was boring about that.

Today's game is boring because that's the way your delegate wants it.
