I just re-loaded 150 Herters Empties a friend gave me, I first tried 25 shells, I ran them through my Mec Super Sizer, and then loaded a box of trial shells, I was absolutely amazed at the results, the target breaks were very really smoke from the 27 yard line last Night during an Annie Oakley, using them on First, Second and 3rd shot pick-ups.

I loaded another batch of 150 w 20 grs 700-X, Federal 12SO wad, RIO Primer, and One Ounce #6s in Herters Empties w/6 point Crimp.

My gun is A Fabarms AXIS RS-12 34"in. un-single using the #9 Extra Full Choke , choke tube, Neil Winston has called me a Liar on the results I achieve on my patterns using the Caesar Guerini Choke tubes, All I could tell him was try shooting them yourself and see.

Fabarms and Caesar Guerini use the same style barrels and choke tubes, and Tri-Bore Bbls.

Do your own tests on the following Hulls as they are the same design, Federal Gold Medal Plastic, RIO Hulls, and the Cabella's Herters Plastic Hulls, These are tossed on the grounds at Trapshoots all over the Country, No costly Hulls and they can be re=loaded several times.

Economical too, a free shell for every 8 re-loads or a free box per flat of shells.

I have not Chrono'd them but estimate speed just over 1300fps.

I bought a 4# pound keg of Longshot, and there was some loading specs on it w/different payloads and powder charges.

    I loaded 25 of each including a 1440 fps 1 1/4 32.2 Grs Longshot w/#6 shot, in Herters Hulls.

I loaded 25 of 1 1/8th oz #6s 37.1 grs LS using Herter Hull, Windjammer wad, @ 1585 fps for extreme shootoffs.

We do not see the variety of brands locally that are common elsewhere. The Walmart/Federal offerings are quite common and recently the Winchester brand of lower cost shells has entered the scene. Walmart also has had a good supply of Nitro27 and Federal GM plastic in stock for $7.87. The straight wall hull like Herter, GM, Estate, Estate/made in France, Top Gun and the newer Federal econo-pac all load very well and are gaining in popularity for reloading. The LaGrande Or. club just hosted a 44 yard buckle shoot that required the use of new ATA legal trap shells. Winning team used Nitro27/7.5 and won with 9 out of 10 shots. 7 out of 10 was very common, 8 out of 10 not uncommon and it took all day but the 9 out of 10 prevailed. All of our local game shoots require ATA/PITA legal shells but allow reloads so I am pretty sure by the sound of some that loads like you describe are not out of the ordinary. Larry
