Wider angles who can change them?

Does the EC have the authority to change the angles or is that something reserved for the Board of Directors?

 

The EC does just about any thing they want to. Including making mistake after mistake. Roger C.

 

The EC may be too busy with the AG to deal with triviality such as target presentation.

 

The only thing they are good at, is covering their respective a$$es. Roger C.

 

As far back as the 70's, club managers were throwing 2 hole targets so big scores would bring back shooters. Much like the gravy "ma/pa" sporting clays courses we see today. Make it easy so shooters come back, and can can brag about their score

Once the cat is out of the bag, and it's hell putting it back.

 

Rosey, I started shooting in the early 70's and I did not see any two hole targets in Ohio, W.VA., or Michigan. The two hole did not do as much damage to the game as the softer targets did. THE WEIGHT LIMITS WERE REMOVED FROM THE TARGETS, this gave them odd flight paths. They were made softer, and shorter. The biggest problem is with clubs not sticking to the setting rules that the ATA had in place at the time. They let any one change the settings so that no two fields are the same.

Everyone that picks up a gun does not have the work effort or the desire needed to be a champion. Making the game easier will not solve their problem. The EC tried making them all feel good champs, and you can see how much that has helped the game. It was the best thing that ever happened for the Sporting Clays game. The shooters wanting more of a challenge have all moved to the Sporting game. Our leaders in the ATA do not seem to have the knowledge or the ambition to reverse that trend. If they do it is another of their closeley held secrets.

Rosey, When did you start shooting registered targets? When trap was really organized the rules were followed. If you shoot targets in all states they were set very close to the same. Now with the lack of rule enforcement target setting is a hodge podge of unusual settings. Roger C.

 

The clubs I started shooting at back in the mid 1970's all set 3 hole targets (Mid West) , based on what I saw and was told to set ... Came out west in my 5th year of shooting and could tell there was a difference ... I was on the trap committee (home club) so I had to set targets and we set them as 3 hole targets, not sure when (IF) that changed back there because I have been in Arizona for over 20 years now ... There is a difference and a lot of surprises compared to the targets today ... Hard right from 5 , whoa ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
