West Virginia will they ever have another shoot? Doomed?

News from WV is they don't have anyone maintaining the traps. The WV State Shoot will be held in VA this year. They had a chance to have a major shoot there this year but declined. No leadership or help.

If anyone has better news than this from WV let us know.

 

I finally made it to my first West Virgina state shoot last year. I had a great time there! The folks running the shoot were very friendly and I thought the host club was a nice place to shoot. I did hear some rumblings from a couple WV Board members that they might have to relocate for this year's shoot and unfortunately they were right about the move. There aren't too many clubs that size anymore and I hope this one will continue to host registered shoots in the future.

 

The Traps are deeply in need of repair, that is the Reason the West Virginia shoot was held in Va. Over 50% of the Traps do not work, there is no Trap Maint.

No desire to help throw shoots within the club itself.

 

Someone should try to get a lease from them. The right management and that could be a very nice club. lShot there several times back on the eighties, and it was excellently run. even when they forgot to reset the springs on the machines and started the handicap event. The targets were hitting the power.lines wwwaaayyy out in front of the the trap houses. l Hope it gets restarted soon. Roger C.

 

Where was the WV state shoot held?

 

The 2017 WV State shoot was held at a club we called "Mc Adoo Ridge" but I believe the real name of the club is Brooke County Sportsman's Club. I'm not positive but I think the club's address is on Mc Adoo Ridge Road in Wellsburg, WV.

 

Long way from VA!

 

Sad to hear about WV. Back in the late 70's early 80's there was a husband/wife couple that really shot well, can't remember their names.

 

They don't have to hold a registered shoot to register targets.

The the GAH winner from a few years ago, the one on the 18 yard line, proved that. That is where he shot a TON of his registered targets.

Of course a LOT of them were disallowed after investigation and taken off his record but what the hell, it was such a great place for him to "practice".
