I did not know there was a type 2 but I saw it stated in the for sale section. What is the difference? Thanks in advance for responses.
Type 2 and type 3 actions have different top lever catches - Type 2 on the left side and Type 3 center top. Type 2 also have different forend iron/wood than most Type 3 tho early Type 3 have the older style iron. When the iron changed it came to be called Type 4 for reasons I don't understand since T2/T3 iron/wood is interchangeable. Type 4 iron seems to hold some position of favor in sales of older guns but AFAIC there is nothing wrong with the T2/T3 iron screws as practically every other target gun in the world uses that same two-screw configuration. Like, BFD.
I'll add that there needs to be a little extra inletting inside a type III / IV stock to fit a Type II receiver. I believe it has to do with how the top lever swings the locking block (someone knows the proper answer)? I just know that the stock will fit, but the barrel(s) won't cock the trigger(s) without shaving some wood? It's not difficult with a Dremel, and afterwards, the stock will still fit a Type III or IV.
Yes - there needs to be a notch on the left side to clear the top lever lock. Just like the notch on the right side of a T4 stock. I just use a file as there is not much that needs removal. Pretty easy.
