Is the HOF going to have anything in it for the grand opening ceremony. Or will it be empty for the grand closing ceremony. It seems the two events will only be a few days from each other. Any insights?
Interesting question... I certainly hope they don't take anything out of storage until they get a FIRM handle on what is really happening. Anyone in the know ?
I have been told that the items to be displayed during the Grand Opening are the large framed pictures of Hall of Fame Inductees, Past Presidents and HOF Trustees. The belief was that the offices and display areas would most likely not be completed by August. The plan I heard was to move the collection of artifacts sometime in November, from storage into their new home. The Illinois budget problems may very well change all the plans. I have no facts to back this up but it did come from a reliable source. Please treat it as such.
I was looking forward to a tour but kind of figured there might not be much to see this time around. Sounds like there will be even less then I had hoped for.
They may as well wait until next spring to bring in the items. Won't have to provide climate control for 6 months during the winter. And by then their may be a little more firm decision on what will happen out there. Can you imagine what it's going to cost to provide the Heating and Air Conditioning in that tall of space ? Use it for a month, and then provide climate control for 11 more...Ummmmmmmmm
Seems like an unusual question, but does anyone know how long it takes to get police or fire personal there if there is an alarm ??? Good God, I hope they have more than just security cameras there...Cameras don't prevent, they only show the bad guys in action. And I sure do hope they can find an insurance company that will insure the artifacts being that far from civilization. Opps, I believe that problem would be solved..I think Mr. Bradford has an insurance agency.
Was only there once but saw plenty of Homeland Security Vans and State Police to keep those with guns in line.
I think it is a concern for the other 50 'off-weeks' when there will be functional firearms for the taking.
When you saw State Police and Homeland Security that was during the Grand, what type of security will be provided during the other 50 weeks of the year is what we should be interested in and if mobile security is available how long is the response time in the event it is required.
Is there really going to be items put in the building? I doubt anything of value will be stored there.
