Small ATA Shoots

Have people been noticing that smaller ATA shoots stopped giving out buckles and not your lucky to get anything?

 

A lot of times you get something you don't want or need.. I'd Like to see more ammo....

 

My local shoots give nothing...

 

My old club just paid back money. It was nice when at the end of the night you shot for free.

 

How about this, all the shooters put a predetermined amount into a kitty, high gun get50% the next two winners get25% based on the luck of the draw--beats lewis class payouts

 

how small is small?
last ata shoot i had at my range was 8.
i stopped it because it turned out all they wanted to do is pad their averages.

i went back to old fashion, drop some bucks in a hat for1st place. and they still wouldnt come.

then i had every shooter bring a prize to be given out to 1st and RU.
they all brought cleaning tips.
so then i ASSIGNED PRIZES.
and they got antsy pantzy....and played the (i didnt know i was suppose to bring something excuse.)
so then i fined them at the counter 20 bucks to pay for my pre bought prizes.
i never seen so many skin flints in my life.
i gave up and closed the range.

i learned thru experience that in small venues, even if you get 10 people to sign up and pay....33% no show.
its not worth my effort to set up for 6 shooters.
most i ever had was 24 and sure enough, 8 no showed.

 

You assigned shooters to bring the prizes for your shoot?

Probably hard for most “small” ata shoots to afford to give out anything let alone buckles. Pretty much impossible if you want to keep it affordable for the shooters and don’t have volunteer help

we have a 4 trap club and pay out over $100/hr in labor for scorers and loaders at each ata shoot we have. With the price of targets and help it’s hard enough to keep targets at a reasonable price before adding in trophy expenses

 

yes. where normally mgmt decides on the gift, (where shooters tend to be disappointed in the prize,) we wouldassign each person to bring a prize. we would publish who was bringing what, so everyone knew what was going to be awarded.
and...we'd keepthe entry fee so low, it attracted the shooters. 50 bucks and a prize for a 200 bird match with a serving line and a table in town for dutch steaks.....beat that.
but then shooters played stupid to try to weasel out of responsibility.
then covid hit.
i ended it all.

 

Well…maybe that was part of your problem, I’m not about to shoot to win something that I brought…I can’t say that I’ve ever heard of that before.

 

i didnt have a problem.
but some do find it difficult to think outside the box.
