Originally case colored, faded to a French Gray finish on the receiver. Manual safety. Ejectors. Manufacture code of 968 denotes it was proofed in Sept of 1968. Serial number is 707xxx. It is a high quality, German made shotgun. The left side of the barrel lump shows an engraved Q1, meaning of high grade quality. The barrel length is 28 3/8”. The bores are bright, shiny and unpitted. Two small “small rash marks” on the left side of the barrel by the chamber. Both bores are .724 diameter. The right barrel constriction or choke is .005. The left barrel is .010. Skeet and I.C. Perfect upland game, gun, especially over dogs. The LOP is 14.5”. The DAC is 1.5” inches. Neutral cast. Side clips. Double trigger. 2.75” chambers. The butt pad is a non-original Kick eeze. The stock has been refinished. The bluing is original and 95%. Cheek piece. Sling Swivels, typical European. Larger, splinter forend. Double bite plus Greener cross bolt. Super strong lock up and the top lever is to the right side of six o’clock. The gun weight is approx. 6 pounds eight ounces. My scale could be off a bit. Where the butt mates to the receiver on the left side, a small checking of the finish appears. It is not a crack. Raised, cross filed rib. A great buy at this price. The German and Austrian guns are greatly under valued for the quality you get. Simson guns are quite highly regarded and the prices on them has been steadily increasing. The triple bolting makes for a triple plus in the durability. Nice gun!
