Back in the day there was this guy around the SoCal shoots that made these vests. Give him a buncha empty bags and he’d make a vest with them. They were not like the girlfriend would make, these were very professionally put together. Heavy duty stitching, evenly cut, well thought out – simply a quality product. There is no label or size in it but it fits me fine and I usually use a large in about anything and wear 36” waist stuff. This one was my Dad’s. It does not appear to have been used and if it was it was not much tho it’s been moved around a lot in the past 15 years or so. The front closures do not adjust but as you can see the high side vents have a very heavy elastic and double D-ring adjuster. The lower closure is adjusted with a clever internal belt that goes all the way around and is also double D-ring adjusting. The front shell pockets measure 11”Wx8”H and have a bellows on the bottom and one end. Re-enforced recoil pad area, two-shell spare pocket with a front pocket just below. I still have a vest like that, but commercially made from the early 70's. Everyone sewed patches all over them along with pins from lots of shoots. They were kind of neat showing off one's accomplishments. Never see that any more.
