After reading some discussions about ATA Satellite Grands on the 2017 ATA Financial Report thread, I thought it might be good to provide some history for those interested.

The Spring Grand was not put in place by the ATA. David Quan was the pres. of Phoenix Trap $ Skeet Club. He had the first Spring Grand in the early 70's. It was a great success, I was there. They decided to make it an annual event. A couple of years latter the ATA filed a copy write on the, name and then told the club they would have to pay to use it. That was in the records of the old Phoenix club. We gave the EC a private room for their use, and stocked it with food and drinks on top of the fee. Their help at the shoot was very minimal. At the last shoot we had they would not even work the shoot offs.
The ASTA all had dinner reservations so they were of no help either. Myself and Don Brown were the only ones to get the shoot offs taken care of.
They even tried to hijack the revenues from the major gun and ammo companies for their adds in the program that we paid for. They are not the club friendly people that we have running our sport. Roger C
Maybe I should have made this a PM
