Does the ATA have a re-call clause in it's by-laws?

SPECIAL ALERT – ISRA STATEMENT ON PROPOSED CLOSURE OF SPARTA WORLD SHOOTING COMPLEX
September 1, 2015 has been designated as the day that the World Shooting Complex will close.
As many of you have heard by now, budget cuts proposed by the Rauner administration include the elimination of the World Shooting Complex located in Sparta, Illinois. Among other things, the World Shooting Complex is the home of the Amateur Trapshooting Association’s(ATA) Grand American trapshooting championship. For almost a decade, the Grand American has poured better than $15 million annually into the Sparta-area economy.

The ISRA along with other organizations worked hard to get the World Shooting Complex constructed and even harder convincing the ATA that Sparta was the place to bring the Grand American. Certainly, the closing of Sparta complex would be a serious blow to the shooting sports and to the economy of Southern Illinois.

Of course, there are some people who are salivating over the prospect of Sparta “going away.” The gun-grabbing contingent of Chicago and suburban legislators are busily pushing for the closing of Sparta so that their patronage-laden follies will be spared any cuts.

September 1, 2015 has been designated as the day that the World Shooting Complex will close. Between now and then, the ISRA will keep you informed as to the status of the complex and what you can do to preserve and protect this valuable asset to the shooting sports.

The outcome of the politics is now a mute point in the discussion. The announcement by the governor doomed the site.

The IDNR will no longer be able to get investors or sell leases of any kind. Who wants a 10 year lease that will be cancelled? Why invest in a vendor spot that will not exist next year or 5 years from now. The announcement is the wooden stake.

The fact that no one from upper levels of the ATA resigned speaks much about the situation. This outcome is the product of the greedy leading the ignorant. I think I am safe saying that here.

I expect an ATA exec that will not be resigning will visit the CC soon. I am not sure why Mr. Fishburn would let any of these idiots on his property. I expect he will listen and a deal reached. The deal won't be as good for the ATA before this disaster.

The initial losers are the ATA shooters. In the end the winners will be the ATA shooters assuming there are many resignations.

Maybe they could hold an auction to shoot the last target at Sparta .... like they did at Vandalia.

The money may be needed to fund the next 5-figure "gift shotgun" for the next unlucky person in line to get one.

I've read a lot of discussions on this page, but have yet to hear anything form any of the ATA board.
What's up? Seems like they would want to calm the storm and yet nothing.

Would you want to be the "board member" to speak first ?????

It would be something like this ... well ... after the Grand this year the ATA will be ... ????? ... and it is not our fault because all the know-it-all's on TS dot com told us this would never happen ...

The EC and BOD feel they do not have to answer to the membership, it would surpise me if anyone said anything unless confronted face to face and then some crap (S*&T) will probably really fly ... Sad as it is, its not like nobody guessed it would happen ... Sleep tight to night the EC and BOD got our backs, and a back up plan ... I have a river here in Arizona where the temp never gets above 80 and it seldoms rains " for sale " by owner if interested ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

At the meeting I attended and was not allowed to speak, IDNR asked for an additional 10 year lease and ATA signed it.
I was there when that happened.

Looks like 10 yrs. of nothing

From what people are saying and what i have read MAYBE it MIGHT be best if the current Sparta situation was to come to a head and force the ATA's hand in order to get things back east where the ATA power base is.

The ATA has lost all creditability with the majority of the Membership, obviously members who joined as of late (past 10 years) don't really know any difference or how it once was so they go by what they do know which is little or nothing about the ATA and its actions that goes against the common sense used by many of the older members ... Those involved directly or were involved in the vote should have a place where they can never be forgotten ... Its not over yet, so one never knows ... I did see a FAT Lady getting ready to sing if that means anthing ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

Typical rush to judgment. The info has been out what 2 weeks and nobody really knows what is happening and you want statements from the ATA. By the way the Governors Budget has line items in it to support the WSC for the next year, several million dollars worth in fact. So on one hand you are saying it is going to close but on the other hand the Governor has provisions to fund it. Typical hate and venom from some posters on this site instead of waiting to find out what is really happening. But closing makes you feel better so have at it, sanity was never a great commodity on this site.

I am going to sit on my hands and see where the Governor has pledged money to the WSC to keep it open.
