The 2019 PA State Handicap event was won on Sunday with a 97. Just wanted to say Congrats to Anthony Boes for taking the Resident Junior spot with a 95. Darn nice shooting. I'm sure his Grandfather, RVH, who started him a few years ago is as proud as he could be. Now, when Grandpap talks about all the State Teams he has been on and the great scores he himself has shot over the years Anthony can just smile and say, Yep, I know the feeling.
When my pal told me about it I never thought about asking that type of question. Whatever it was, he will be a yard farther back the next time he shoots. I guess you could look it up on Stuart's site if you wanted to. I don't think he has shot much since his Grandfather started taking him so I doubt if it was the 27. If you meant his Grandfather, he is on the 27.
Looks like Anthony could be one of the young guns from what I saw on the ATA website. He started in 2017 with a 75% singles average and has moved up; to the 92% average in the past two years. Stated he was on the 21.5 yard line. Moving up the ladder, the way it should be. Congrats to this young fellow.
Ya think? I'll bet Anthony, who is probably still smiling, already knows that. I posted what I did hoping his Grandfather would show him and he would get a kick out of seeing people say something nice about his accomplishment. According to Stuart's site there were, 97's....2 96's....7 95's....13 Only seven shooters between the 95's and the top score. Welcome to Elysburg. You want to see easier? Look up the year the "grand" was won from the 18 yard line by a grown man that probably SHOULD have been on the 27.
Don't get your panties in a wad. I wasn't knocking his success and accomplishment. I just asked what yardage he shot from. And if you want to talk about tough shooting, come to Montana and shoot in our weather and wind.
Don't get your panties in a wad. "I wasn't knocking his success and accomplishment. I just asked what yardage he shot from." "It way easier to shoot a 95 from the 19 than the 27 yd line." Of course you were knocking his score. If you weren't you wouldn't have asked that question. NOBODY said anything about "tough" targets. I just wanted the young man to see his name on here and hoped a few guys would acknowledge his shooting. I saw that you're a pretty good "trap" shooter and on the 27. BIG DEAL, I made it back there in 1400 targets when I started and that was with 3 hole targets, AND I WASN'T THAT GOOD. You want tough targets? Try standing on the 35 yard line in the last ring when you are 20 straight. Now why don't you just tell Anthony how great he shot and let it go at that. BTW, I wear boxers.
It does my Heart good to see a young man or lady win at some of the bigger events ... Anthony (Boes) obviously shot pretty damn good to come out a winner in any class at a State shoot ( Good Shooting Young Man) ... When the Old Phoenix Club was still up and running it was usually the guys from Montana who screamed, pissed, and moaned the loudest about the targets, every body else just went out and broke them (most of them usually ) ... Got some guy who must of been picked on when he was a kid (George from Montana) who is getting even with the world with banning people ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
