I used to be a HEAVY smoker, actually to the tune of 4 to 5 packs a day ... If my eyes were open I had a cigarette in my mouth, even if I got up in the middle of the night to take a leak , I would butt it out and finish it in the morning ... I was 47 years old, had a Massive Heart Attack, having been a Para Medic I knew what it was and figured I was done ... They wanted to air lift me but couldn't get in with the Helo so they transported me by Ambulance , had a Great Doctor and triage team waiting when we arrived ... Desending artery was 100% occluded so they did the Roto Rooter (angioplasty) thing and cleared it and placed a stent to keep it open ... The Doctor told me if I was going to continue smoking I wasted his time , I gave him my word that I quit as of right now ... I quit Cold Turkey on the spot and never touched another cigarette to this day and hope I never will ... I know many people who did not have the desire to quit even once it effected their life , my ex died with a cigarette in her hand of COPD and complications of cancer ... I sincerely hope anyone who has never smoked never does and those that are my family , I pray every day that they quit or never start ... I say tax the things until no body can afford them to help deter people from smoking ... Been there, done that and still paying the price ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

Makes a lot of sense to me. Just tax anything the government dosen't want you to do.Just like the bullet tax.It is all about the money.Soda Tax..?. The government would like everyone to die before they collect social security.The politicians would have more Money to squander away. The government collects billions on cigarettes.more than the manufactures of the cigarettes ..The hand in your pocket is the government.There are choices in life.make your own.Don't let the government make them for you.What is next,Sin Tax
