The Washington Post is reporting that the National Rifle Association “has made a stunning declaration in a new tax filing: Current and former executives used the nonprofit group’s money for personal benefit and enrichment.
The story broke Wednesday, with the lead paragraph asserting the organization had denied allegations of lax financial oversight for years.

According to the Post report, longtime NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre and “five former officials” received what were described as “excess benefits.” The newspaper said this is a term the IRS uses “when officials have enriched themselves at the expense of a nonprofit entity.”

LaPierre reported reimbursed NRA “nearly $300,000 in travel expenses covering 2015 to 2019,” the story noted, citing the updated tax filing.

I am going to look into Gun Owners of America and the 2nd Amendment Foundation as alternate source for my contributions until the NRA gets rid of those who have been stealing money from their members for their personal use.

IMHO, these guys are so far behind the times that it equates to handing our 2nd Amendment Rights to the Anti-Gun Establishment. The ways of old are no longer effective. There is a whole new way to reach members and increase membership and these guys just don't seem to get it. Sending me gilded gold embossed mailers week after week begging me for more money when I NEVER see an NRA presence anywhere is a huge waste of the organization's money.

When I rejoined I picked a little folding knife as my "gift".

Anyone stealing money from the NRA should have been given one of these.

I'm a life member of the NRA since about 1985 but I think it has become a member of the swamp of DC. LaPierre has been there far too long. His cronies are everywhere. I met him about 3 months after he took the job and he wasn't even a gun owner at that time. I think he was a lobbyist by profession.

Unfortunately our side isn't represented by the best. None of the organizations I am a member of have strong leadership and all have seemed to loose their way. The National Wild Turkey Federation is all women all the time in the Magazine and is unreadable to old time turkey hunters, Pheasants Forever spends all their time raising money for I don't know what. DU does nothing that I can see for ducks and just has fund raiser banquets, the last Wildlife Federation event I went to in Columbus was half as large as they used to be, the old guard had been replaced with younger smarter Californians who were in the process of running it into the ground, that was 2015 and like the Turkey, Pheasant, NRA, and DU banquets I no longer attend or donate from my hunting preserve. I got tired of them pestering me for a donation and don't give to any of them now.

The ATA isn't the only national sportsman organization that got away from it's founding roots and went to hell, just the one closest to us trap shooters. Maybe these organizations all should be allowed to die because they sure don't seem to be doing much good.

I know what you mean. That was the first thing I looked for when I took the pocket knife out of the wrapper.

This one sold at an auction.

    99.9% condition. Used only once.

Until this year I belong"ED" to a club that demanded you be an NRA member.

$250.00 dues and a $40.00 NRA payment on top of that.

I had read of the stealing by the NRA officials, and told this club IF they didn't drop that requirement, I would drop my membership, and others had told them the same thing.

Now I belong to a club that had seen the light with the NRA and no longer requires their membership.

I HATE to say this about the NRA because for years they supported us, the shooters, but as of late they haven't shown me much.

I think most organizations should change the head guy every 4 years and have a outside auditor go over the books and report to the members all of there findings. The Good Ole Boys Club exists almost everywhere. The NRA pays these guys well with expense accounts and they still have to steal more.

Wayne runs people off so they can’t catch him stealing.

His ideas don’t represent all shooters. To radical
