Kenny how many Winchester HOF Combo sets were made? Winchester said they were made in 1987 but does not have any information as they merged with Browning in 1990.

There were some Winchester State Combos made also, I believe 50 of them, and then for each Canadian Provence.

I talked to Winchesters best historians, but they have no records.

The book on Used Gun Values placed there value at $3350-$3600.

There were so many Winchester commemorative combos made, Cocoa Cola, was one of them, in Shotguns

    Doc,

Winchester came out with the HOF Combo sets in late 1984 I believe. The first 60 of 250 Winchester "Hall of Fame" trap sets were allocated to the States, the Canal Zone, the District of Columbia and Canadian Provinces. These Combo Sets were auctioned during State and Provincial shoots in 1985.

"Serial number HF1 through HF60, featured a gold-accented engraving on the sides and bottom of the frame. Decorative scrollwork engraving surrounded the ATA logo encircled by the inscription "Trapshooting Hall of Fame," on the left side of the frame."

The other 190 trap sets were available for sale through normal channels to ATA members.

Also in 1985 (I believe) Winchester dealers sold a new Winchester "Hall of Fame" standard comb o set that had a suggested retail price of $2,795. So, I would think the State HOF guns (HF1-HF60 would fetch the highest price followed by the 190 other HOF commemorative guns.

I would like to know if the serial numbers continued as HF61-HF250 or if they were given different serial numbers. Anyone have one of the following 190 Trap Combo Sets and could provide an answer?

    Hope this helps.

Thanks Kenny for the info, you knew more than Winchester guys, they said when Browning took over in 1990 they were given no records.

    Doc,

I'm not smarter than the Winchester guys. I was just lucky to have a couple of files about our trapshooting history laying around.

Ohio's Hall of Fame Combo made the cover of the February 1985 Trap & Field. The shell collection was donated by 1958 ATA President Vic Reinders.

    The Winchester HF-1 Combo was auctioned off during Friday's ceremonies at the 1985 Grand American. The fellow who won the bid paid . . . . . . . . . . . . $7,700 for it.

Kenny I stand corrected the serial # under the opening lever does say HF161, the serial #s under the Bbls where I was looking does not have the HF.

Do you have any idea of how much they were backbored? My friend cannot find his dial indicator bore mic. He looked today for it while I was over there, no find yet.
