Someone please tell me why there is a Junior Gold Category in the ATA? Is it because they are better? Do youthful teens need an advantage? Do they move too fast to the target? Maybe their reflexes are too slow.... Do old farts make better athletes? There must be a mathematical reason....
STaT mAn STaN, That brilliant move was just one of the many that the illustrias EC made to get the ATA moving in the right direction. We peons have trouble under standing the fantastic direction we as registered shooters are heading in to. It would be nice to see a business plan for all of their plans, that way we would be able to see the many improvements that are being made. OH well I guess only getting info on a need to know basis will have to suffice. Roger C.
Roger....I am not here to bash the ATA. My point ->there must be a reason. We can’t test the result if we never had a purpose? Was the goal to protect the teens or are we trying not to embarrass the older big shots?
Hello, I don’t know the exact reasoning why the EC or whoever made the category, but I can assume it was to keep a very big group of shooters in the game instead of them dropping the sport and heading into the real world. In today’s trap society, you can see many JR Gold shooters travel the country and chase AA points instead of being home with a job. Maybe they work out of the summer, but during the “hot” months they’re on the road. It’s also a very tough category to place in, one of the though way if you ask me... so maybe it was a way to keep all the talent against each other. This year at the Grand every championship event was won by a JR Gold.. that means a lot. I know these aren’t the exact reasons, but in my mind that’s why I would’ve made it. I’m personally not into the JRG category and that’s why I went into the open class last year. Not many people do that and that’s okay. Everyone has their own preference. Hope this helps.. Chase H
There may be more Junior Golds at the Grand than usual but other major shoots show few attendees. It's one event that awards many ribbons to a select group.
Stat, There is a diffwerence between criticism and bashing. I was pointing out the fact that members never get to comment on changes until they are implemented. Roger C.
It was done with the mistaken belief when mommy and daddy were no longer willing to pay the freight that age group would miraculously sacrifice their own limited finances and further embrace the ATA target culture. Never happened!
Funny at 18 you go in the Army and qualify along with your age group and anyone older or younger. Mommy and Daddy can't follow you. They have a DI for that!!
Age is revelant, The amount of years you are alive is revelant. Your state of mind is important. Roger C.
