If Browning 745 bore is good then why is Beretta 733?

Browning is 745. I have a recent Beretta that is 733. How can 2 manufacturers use science and come up with different conclusions?

The difference between a 745 and a 733 is the thickness of two $100 dollar bills. Plus shipping.

Browning started at.729, Beretta at .724. So they weren't in agreement before the overbore craze, either. The wads I have measure .710 or less, gotta wonder if they would seal in a .745 bore ?

My Competition Synthetic is .740", My Diamond Grade 101 unsingle is .750". For the most part I reload the Gold Medal or French Estate and use the 12S3 wad which measures about .725".. the chronograph results indicate a given load produces at or near the listed book velocities....... When I load my Nitro27 hulls with the Windjammer wad measuring .711" the results are similar. I am guessing the pressure of igniting powder forces the wad to conform to whatever barrel it goes down...... Many modern diesel engines us the same principle to force the piston ring into a perfect seal with the cylinder wall......... Larry

I have read many articles by Mfgrs. and they say .740 is the optimum bore, I have seen some .750 bores Bloop, especially in cold weather, I have been told that Kolar has dis-continued the .750 bore, possibly special order only.

I had a .800 Baker barrel, the only problem occured in zero or minus zero weather, the discharge did not sound the same but still broke the target. The solution to this was to keep the shells in a warm place until you were ready to shoot. The upside to this barrel was a increase in fps with lite shells over a standard bore barrel, just how much an increase Iwould have to look up my records. I don't believe that the Baker barrel is available anymore since Baker passed away.

Several years ago I used to make the trip to Colfax Washington to purchase Blue Duster wads from a gentleman that shot trap and was a supplier of components to the area shooters. His pride and joy was a gun that had 10 gauge barrels fitted to the monobloc. He found it pleasant to shoot and indicated his scores were always quite high. He did his shooting in Colton Wa. and other clubs in Washington State. It was a beautiful shotgun and is probably still breaking birds just fine with its .775 bore barrels. Larry
