I propose we change to #7s as the only shoot size to be used in TRAP, SKEET, SPORTING CLAYS., Pros & Cons. Pro one size of shot, to the Mfgrs. less Inventory Pro moore broken targets, less being dusted noot broken. One ounce #7s hold their Velocity and Elevation longer, and Hold Target Breaking Energy6-9 yards farther. Less Inventory of different shot sizes. 1 oz of #7s will break more targets, than 7 1/2s Less inventory for Clubs , for different shot sizes. I believe once you try them, you will see the Pronounced difference. GB..................................................DLS
This would be a challenge to get going. The maximum shot size allowed on the CC screens is 7.5. Anything larger will damage the screens. Prior to events this is broadcast on the P.A. System with reminders that anyone caught using anything larger than 7.5 will be removed from the shoot and liable for any damages to the screens. Signs are posted as well. I imagine other clubs with screens are the same, although I can't say for sure.
I shot 5 or 6 bags of 7's years ago. 1-1/8 oz Singles...…..Don't need them Doubles...… Don't need them Caps(from the fence)…….Don't need them Games...…..I already load 1 oz of 6's so,...…..Don't need them AND, when you tried to find them if you did want them the answer from the dealer was usually....Don't have them. That number of bags gets you around 100 boxes of reloads. Pronounced difference? I didn't see any but that's just me. You may find they are just what you need to get that one extra target to break em all.
Sure, sure. Let's do it. All "we" have to do is get every shotshell maker there is, which have been making millions and millions and millions of cases of target shells in 7.5 and 8s for well over 100 years, to do what "we" think would be best. I'm all for it. Who is in charge? Jake
Interesting concept, DLS, but it will not be accepted. First problem would be getting every sanctioning organization world-wide to agree on it. Then, the next problem would be getting the vast majority of target shooters to agree on it. Neither has much chance of occurring..
