I load 3 powders, Longshot-800-X and Promo

Promo is my line load powder, why it is the cheapest, 800-X is my line back-up load 26.5 grs, Windjammer wad, Rio Primer, Rio Hull, 1 3/16ths oz #6s, Longshot Powder is my shootoff powder, 33.5 grs in a Federal Top Gun Hull, Windjammer wad, RIO Primer, 1 1/8th oz #6s, approx. 1500fps, 2nd Load is 35 Grs Longshot using the Rio Hull, Windjammer Wad, RIO Primer, 1-1/8th oz #6s approx. 1550fps
all loads less than 10,300psi. NOTE: WIN AA SUPER HDCP are 11,300psi according to my Hodgdon Loading Manual.

Promo is 19.0grs, Federal Top Gun Hull, Windjammer wad, RIO Primer, 1-1/8th oz shot

Gary, I use 800X in my 28 ga loads. Best powder I have used in it. 15 gr under 11/16 oz in Fed/Eurotrash hulls, 5/8 oz in RP/AA hulls.

I just shoot factory loads, mostly Wally World 4 packs for registered and anything on concrete. When I was reloading - I was shooting Red Dot - 18 grains. Now for backup loads (37 yards and back) which I still reload - 33 grains Winchester 540 (Hogdon HS-6), 1-1/4 ounce of hard 6s, Winchester WAA12F114 wad, Winchester primer in AA or STS hull. That load will reach out and touch em from anywhere anybody wants to shoot. And anything between concrete and 35 yards I just shoot either Winchester Super Handicap or Nitro STS.

Why not longshot in 28ga?

 

Loudshot works well in 28 ga R-P and AA hulls. Stack height is iffy in a Riefenhauser hull.
