What if the ATA Paid an Executive Director $300,000 would/could we/the ATA save Sparta, and generate more ATA Members, Being on their Death Bed they need to do something FAST, That is the general Conception, is that right? GB..............................DLS
The only thing that will save Sparta, is moving it to another location .... Remember location, location, location ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
Nope, according to the ATA rule book, the executive director gets his marching orders from the executive committee. Rule 1 F.3 The Executive Committee employs an Executive Director to handle the daily affairs of the ATA. The ATA Executive Director implements the policies set forth by the Board of Directors and/or the Executive Committee and follows their directions
Gary, First, I’m new here so take it easy on me. I am a shooter from Illinois (I know that’s a bad thing). I just don’t understand. It seems like the grand grows every year. Not much but a little. I understand that a lot of shooters don’t like Sparta. Not a lot of hotels right next door or things to do as there was in Vandalia. I just don’t think it’s going to move unless the members would revolt. I think (key word is think, not know) there are a lot more shooters who enjoy Sparta than hate it. I was not a trapshooter before the grand moved to Sparta, hell I never knew trapshooting was a sport. I unfortunately have not shot anywhere else other than Sparta and I’ll admit I don’t shoot a lot there, I’m trying to shoot other clubs but my work schedule doesn’t give me time. It seems to me that the director is doing a good job. Sorry for the rant, on to my question. What shooting related makes Sparta so bad? Thanks and please take it easy one me.
BradM, welcome to the hornets nest. I know a few locals who visited Sparta and vowed never to go back. Too distant, too few amenities and lacking the ambiance they were so used to in Vandalia. I suppose the Eastern and many mid-West shooters are very happy with Cardinal Center although it may not be a real Grand it serves the purpose. You'll never get to enjoy listening to those thousands of shots heard the minute you got off the plane in Dayton airport. Neither will you get to enjoy bumping into hundreds of people shopping the midway or running into the country's finest shooters up close and personal. Vandalia was a pit but it was our pit and we happily suffered through all it's warts. With some luck Sparta will host the Grand for many years to come as us old shooters die off and our replacements have no knowledge of Vandalia's wonderful history.
I was thinking Brad everyone is welcome Illinois included but I kept reading......... and I am saying stop reading, you're gonna bust a gut muscle again. Way to funny! And then........ and And the pain is there again. Laughing tooooo hard. Cripes, out of breath. Don't read anymore. But, it was like looking away from the train wreck. Cripes, grntitan is on the forum. Nah....he aint that funny I thought. OH MY! Trying to catch my breath. Stomach pain going away. Please make my day and sign your next post grntitan. Welcome to the forum.
Welcome aboard Brad... Always refreshing to see a new person shooting trap. Who cares where you are from, as long as you enjoy OUR sport you are a good man !
As long as liberals are controling what you read or hear, you never will know that Trap shooting is a sport.
The $165,000 dollar guy LG isn't accomplishing sh*t, he has the Lead reclamation, A Gun Store at Sparta too, and is being PAID by the ATA, is THAT A CONFLICT OF INTEREST?,, I certainly feel it is.That is 3 incomes at OUR Location, We ATA Members paid for, and are paying him too. Talk about A Monoply, A golden egg at OUR EXPENSE. Whatta you think Brad? I hope that wasn't too hard on you. Gary Bryant................................Dr.longshot Life Member of the ATA 57 years in August
Brad, welcome to the place to get answers by people who really do care based on experience ... Brad, Brad, Brad , First, I’m new here so take it easy on me. I am a shooter from Illinois (I know that’s a bad thing). (being a shooter from any place is not a bad thing ) I just don’t understand. (goes with the territory) It seems like the grand grows every year. (which grand, what chew talkin bout Willis ) Not much but a little. (define " a little " ) I understand that a lot of shooters don’t like Sparta. (Change lot of to Majority of due to lack of places to stay in the immediate area, no T & A bars, not enough places to get good food, one of the High lights to visiting Sparta is a visit to Wal Mart and they do not allow camping in the parking lot) ... Not a lot of hotels right next door or things to do as there was in Vandalia.( have you ever been to Vandalia or are you guessing ) I just don’t think it’s going to move unless the members would revolt. I think (key word is think, not know) there are a lot more shooters who enjoy Sparta than hate it.(hate is such a strong word, no body hates Sparta just do not feel its the place for what used to be the biggest shoot of the year to now be the biggest little shoot of the year ) I was not a trapshooter before the grand moved to Sparta, hell I never knew trapshooting was a sport. ( do not say that out in public, people will look at you funny, especially shooters ) I unfortunately have not shot anywhere else other than Sparta and I’ll admit I don’t shoot a lot there, ( so you admit you have very little experience but post a bunch about nothing you know about for sure ) I’m trying to shoot other clubs but my work schedule doesn’t give me time. It seems to me that the director is doing a good job.( The ED (director) has done nothing for the betterment of the sport, but has ventured in to other business's that are related that he can benefit from ... ) Sorry for the rant, on to my question. What shooting related makes Sparta so bad? Thanks and please take it easy one me. You should be SORRY, now go to your room and do not come out until you are told to do so ... Use the time to read up on trapshooting ... Thats as easy as it gets in the Hornets nest ... (location, location, location ) ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
Why in the world would anyone consider paying more than $50,000/year for an executive position to run the national organization since a knowledgeable, experienced trap shooting person on this forum has gone on record to take over these duties for $50 K as noted in a post earlier this year. Running things is described as a "pud" job with lots of perks. Putting on the Grand American could easily be handled in somebody's spare time.... Flame away! Ed
