All new Trap Challenge ... It would require a Trap setter person in the Trap house throwing at radom 10 different flights listed below. 1. Straight away, 2. Medium Right, 3. Medium Left, 4. Extreme Hard Right, 5. Extreme Hard Left, 6. Sky Rocket, 7. Parallel to the House, 8. Worm Burner, 9. Rabbit, 10 Wobble I am having Fun with this new game just thinking about it ! Yours in Trap, Storeman Norman
I have shot Wobble, Oscillating, Doubles "Trap" ..... Wobble as in random up and down, Oscillating as in the "field" moving at random left and right, and Doubles as in always a "pair" of targets ..... that, with the added "target speed" they used, is as "Wild and Crazy" as "Trap" can get .....
Based upon a number of suggestions I have changed the lineup for Crazy Trap. 1. Fast Straight away, 2. Green Bonus Clay, 3. Exploding Clay, 4. Extreme Right, 5. Extreme Left, 6. Sky Rocket, 7. Parallel, 8. Oscillating, 9. Rabbit, 10 Wobble Keep your suggestions coming. Thanks, Norm
Soon as we get a Club to participate we will have a Tournament based on known ability per yardage 16 to 27 yard line.
How, exactly, are you going to do this with all the PAT Traps clubs use these days? How, exactly, are you going to do this with one of the few surviving Winchester hand-set still in these days? N1H1
N1H1, The Club that I belong to has all the necessary Promatic equipment to handle all the necessary settings. All I have to do is sell them on the idea.
You're gonna have quite a few black marks inside the traphouse on the walls. Don't ask me how I know?
If you want something that is fun and challenging then watch this It is called " reality check" also.
**Has the ATA ever tried to introduce a 4th game? A modified version of 5-Stand for the ATA or trap club is a good idea. My local trap club added a 5 stand 2 years ago, seems like they brought in new shooters but didn't lure a lot of trap shooters over. 5 stand can be a tough sell in it's current form. They could easily come up with a new simplified set of rules , that could leverage existing equipment and fields. The key is to figure out a way to keep and utilize the voice release systems with minimal mods, and lower the minimum to 5 machines per layout. *(NSCA rules require a minimum 8 traps..... I would also nix the cages, , complex menus, and include a 1 shot singles game for SBT gun shooters) Basically lowering the cost barrier to build one, increasing accessibility, and creating something new that captures the elements of both trap and 5 stand. If you want to make it super challenging, have a 27yd version.
Love the idea. Not see how could throw a rabbit target off a regular trap machine. Years ago at the Wyoming state sporting clays shoot they had the setter sitting in a hole out front. (could not see him) He had a chair and trap that could rotate 360 degrees. He could throw a target anywhere in this range including straight at you and whenever he wanted to throw it on your call. Game was shot gun down at this time. Anything from a 5 yard target to a 65 yard target at his discretion. I really made sure that i did not piss him off. Great presentation. Love to see 16 yd. trap thrown as wobble. 27 be tough as would tend to shoot the trap house on the weed burners.
Wobble would sure cut down on the 100 straights, especially from the 27. Maybe the ATA could start using wobble on the 16, for a while at special shoots, just to see how it went across with the shooters. Maybe a 99/100 or a 199/200 would win once in a while? I mean technology has improved so much as far as traps, voice, calls, and adjustable guns. Maybe, it's time to change the game and make it more difficult to accommodate the more advanced technologies?
