I like the Santa Fe Station stayed there twice, met the nicest Nevada Highway Patrolman that was a Trapshooter, he told a group of us go ahead and speed to get to gun club, If you show us your ATA card we will let you go.

It is a short drive from there to Las Vegas Gun Club. There is a Walmart Close by.

In looking at Vegas hotels, pay attention to see if the hotel charges a "resort fee." Resort fees in Vegas can be up to 25% of your hotel room price. Look around for lists of Vegas hotels that don't charge resort fees. You may have to stay off the Strip, but it's easier to get around off the Strip, and you have more local restaurants available to you.
