What is the latest? My club is waiting for more information.

 

Working on the prizes. We don't want to have these guys practicing to win a Championship for just trinkets. Hang in there skinner.

What is the logic for giving a bonus bird to those assigned to 25 yard line for their last 100 target?

I stated how I felt on the Extra bird, rules were set, bird in air must be shot. lost birds are lost birds, no gun malfunctions.
No Xtra birds, If it aint broke don't fix it, these arbritary changes will be it's downfall, you can count on it, remove the extra bird or count me out, it accomplishes nothing, only problems the program will go bust w/extra bird, Mark My Words
It's going to be difficult enough as it was. I just do not see any Logical reason for it.

Give the bonus bird to any of the Top Dog/Pro shooters from ATA that decide to shoot this money shoot that extra CHEAT bird...Then expect to get your asses kicked again. THE MORE THINGS CHANGE THE MORE THEY STAY THE SAME.

Remember the point of the post is to get your opinions? Why the attacks? It says still working on things. Was it a mistake to ask for opinions?

 

Garry....good question. It is added incentive to try to win from the 25 instead of the 19. It also puts more emphasis on the long run from the front. A 55 yard target is like shooting from the 30.

This is posted for opinions.

 

No doc. Please re-read all the posts. 1190 is the fastest. We wanted 1180 but will fudge a little to 1190 to get more suppliers.

Also..there might not be any 25's from the 25. Have you shot 1180 once ounce from the 25 at targets wider that 1 and 5? Good luck with that.

 

If I understand the ''Bonus'' bird clause right, let's say I shot the high score from the 22yd. Then let's say a perennial All American ties me with the same score shot from the 25. Now does this means he gets a free extra bird that he never shot at and beats me to get first place money even when we both broke the exact same score?
If so, I just hope he walks backward with his hand out to get his money, how proud can that be to win like that IMHO.
Now sorry that I thought this rule was written in stone.

If I understand the possible rules correctly, all shooters will shoot their first 25 targets from 25 yards and only those who break all 25 targets will shoot the remaining 100 targets from the 25 yard line. If this is correct, I don't understand how adding a bonus target to the final score of those who shot all 125 targets from the 25 yard line puts more emphasis on the long run from the front.

I also can see scenarios like the following: Shooter A breaks breaks all of the first 25 targets yard shooter and then breaks another 99 targets from the 25 yard line for a score of 124, and then is given a bonus target for a total score of 125. Shooter B breaks 24 of the first 25 targets and then breaks next 100 targets from the 24 yard line for a score of 124. Shooter A and B both broke 124 out of 125 targets, but shooter B looses to shooter A because shooter A was given a bonus target.

I would like you and those working with you to re-think the idea of a bonus target to verify that a bonus target supports the goals you listed for your Championship Series.

What I read it was BONUS bird is, it did not say WHATA YOU THINK of a BONUS BIRD, Whatta you think of 1350 fps 1 oz 7 1/2s loads on let's say 65 yard birds, this is just a suggestion.

I am trying to gather some additional sponsorship, (prizes, additional money) contacting vendors (Company's) I have done business with over the years … Just started so its to early to tell if there is going to be any response … Might be a shot in the dark, but you never know, you know ..? WPT … (YAC) …

 

The thought is it may encourage a shooter to not bag to the 20. If I could shoot 25 straight from the back I would stay in the game.

As the rules are proposed now, tie breaker is long run from the front. That is almost the equivalent of getting a bonus bird.

I will bet anyone $50 on every bank that they cant shoot a 25. I wont bet N1.

 

HA! If you bet him and he lost AGAIN, your "bonus" would be getting paid.

If no one can break the first 25 targets from the 25 yard line, then there will be no one shooting the remaining 100 targets from the 25 yard line. So the proposal of a bonus target becomes mute, since everyone will be shooting the last 100 targets from 20 to 24 yards. I am not a betting man and it may not happen until the shooters get used to these harder targets, but eventually there will be shooters who will break the first 25 targets from 25 yards.

If the goal is to try to get shooters to win from the 25 yard line, then money talks. Distribute the total available money by percentages among the 6 yardage groups . Those who shoot at the last 100 targets from 25 yard wins the largest percentage of the money with those shooting from 20 getting the smallest percentage of the money. For the time being, table the proposal to give those who shoot at 125 targets from the 25 yard line a bonus target.

To clarify, the winner(s) of the 25 yard group wins the largest percentage of the total available money and the winner(s) of the 20 yard group wins the smallest percent percentage of the total money. I think the distribution of money, like presented above, is the best way to eliminate or greatly reduce sandbagging.

 

It is weighted towards the 25 yard line. You are eligible for the long run from the front which should pay more. Wont be many ties. You are also more eligible to win the big prize since you may have a 5 bird lead on the last 100. There are no yardage purses. If you run the first 25 you are eligible for long run from the back. Remember, all the options are mandatory.

Please clarify for me the money payouts. If there are 100 shooters total, what is the maximum number of shooters that will get paid some amount of money ?

Hard to say. Mathematically there could be as few as four as written in post 8.

 

That does not include special events.

 

If 4 is the minimum, what is the maximum excluding any special events ?

I think I understand your thinking behind the bonus bird but I don't think it is in keeping with the goals of this program. If we get a vote mine would be that "we get what we hit and we don't throw a fit". Keep it simple and straight forward. I wouldn't want to win if I tied another shooter but was given a bonus bird and I darn sure wouldn't want to loose that way. Since the shoot-offs are from the 25 yard line that should already give the guys that break the first the 25 a little bit of an advantage in the shoot-offs. All those that don't break the first 25 but make the shoot off will be stepping back in yardage from their program yardage. I wish you luck getting this program started and I will certainly participate if there is a shoot anywhere within a few hours drive.

Where does this proposed series take place at? Is it like an added event at a regular state shoot or limited to select participating gun clubs?
