My daughter teaches school and her current building does not have A/C. I am looking for 14,000 btu portable unit (the school will not let her use a window type) I am waiting on the true square footage, I think it is between 8 nd 9 hundred Square feet. Any help will be welcome

Lowes and Home Depot sell swamp coolers that are self contained and do a very good job at cooling but does not remove the humidity from the air ... People use them on open patio's and they perform reasonably well ... They come in different sizes and are portable ... There is a local garage that uses (3 of them ) them to cool a 3,000 sq ft garage and again they work reasonably well ... Not sure where she is located but this might be the easy out .... WPT ... (YAC) ...

Thanks wpt. I think I know what you are talking about, may be too noisy for a class room but I'll check it out. Thanks again
