Just wanted to say hello to eveyone here. I have been lurking since the site started. I got an invitation to join a while back and finally decided to go ahead with it. I don't have an ATA membership and don't wish to get one but do enjoy shooting Trap, especially Wobble. I really am enjoying this site and even though I am no longer young I am always learning new things from sites like this. I was a silent fan of Dr. Longshot during his xxxxxxxxxxxxxx days and hope he returns to good health.
Welcome, get involved ... The only dumb question is the one you don't ask, if you don't know ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
Welcome to the site that likes trapshooting. I shoot Registered and non registered because I like trapshooting. Feel at home and get involved some bark but I haven't heard of anyone getting bite yet.
have read threads for a long time and wanted to say hi. Im a practice trap shooter and reload 8s for all my shooting including dove hunting. is 1-18 better than 1 ounces for such shoots? reload8s
Welcome Bgunluvr and reload8s, Glad to have you with us. I like all the scattergun games (well not skeet so much) but they all provide a lot of fun for shotgunners. This group tries to answer questions so feel free to request information or post something you have knowledge of. reload8s, I'm not a dove hunter but I would think its personal choice on the shells for doves. Whatever you knock them out of the sky with. I know shooters who use 7/8 oz. for 16-yard trap and put up smokeballs. I've always used 1-1/8 of 8's for singles and doubles. A great shooter from our past (Frank Little) used to say . . . "A shell is a shell."
Welcome Bgunluvr and reload8s You will meet many interesting and knowledgeable people on this site, who nare willing to help with any problem(s) concerning the shotgun sports. Have a great day.
IMO if you are going to be using your trap loads over decoys and the birds are coming in to your blind 1 oz. of 8's with an open choke are just fine. If you are "pass" shooting them farther out then 7-1/2's might be a little better. It really depends on you and how well you can shoot. I can bet you a buck the dove, if you put the shot on it, will never know the difference between 1 or 1-1/8 oz . Good luck when you go. Have fun and be safe. Flyersarebest
