Haven't touched any shotgun since Mar 14, may have to go to shotgun shooting 101 & see a hypnotist-to remember what trapshooting looks like when this is over
Get yourself a Terry Jordan wall chart. It’s the perfect tool to use when you can’t get outdoors. Just mounting and opening the gun 50 to 100 times a day is a help. But the wall chart will have you doing that, moving the gun and pulling the trigger (snap caps only please!).
I am fortunate to have my main club still open. Although a shotgun only club, my friends and I are happy he remains open for us to shoot. My other club, primarily a pistol and rifle club, is closed until further notice.
Phil, Did they get that trap field in order yet at Blackjack ? When I was there last week, the trap was installed but not set to any standards. As far as I know BJ is still open for the shooters.
The trap field is up and running @ Blackjack, but based on what I heard the target setters have to learn what to do & I really want to shoot but its not worth the risk--If we stay @ home for another 55 days I'm gonna give my wife one of my old patrol pins- when a normal patrol was 74 days-longest underwater was 86 days when the Scorpion was lost
Phil, If they plan on having this field make a go of it, they better let someone of those donating folks who know how to set a field, get in that house and set it up CORRECTLY. Those folks who donated deserve a proper field to shoot on, not some rinky dink operation which I shot on last week. They told me to give it time, so although I was willing to help, I was told at a meeting that the Steering Committee will set it according to ATA standards, and no outside help would be needed.. Sure do hope so, because that is a beautiful facility.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, a car that is drop dead beautiful, but won't start is a piece of s--t, --its just load of scrap metal
Smokintom, That's all any of us can do at this time. I happen to know Phil put a Mega $$$$ donation into this project, and had expected a good working field to shoot on locally instead of traveling 50 miles one way to shoot a couple of rounds. All we can do now is sit and wait and see. I hope for those who put their money up get what was promised in the future. I do applaud Phil, and the other folks who had the extra money to donate for this operation during these trying times. They had the best of intentions, and they should get what was promised.
