My Infinity I used to shoot had a 1 1/4" rib--my 391 DeVault conversion has a 7/8" high rib question is if I lower my butt pad by 3/8"--will I get the same heads up feel--with the lower rib, I have to use more cheek pressure to stop from lifting my head
I don't have an answer, but have questions if you don't mind. I assume "DeVault" made both stocks, so, did he make adjustments in the grip location to keep the distance from the grip to the trigger the same, on two very different shotguns ????? And, do you notice your head being farther forward on the 391 stock vs the Infinity stock, assuming the two shotguns have the same LOP, and if you do not compress your neck as you have to lower your head more ?????
I have to move my head further on the 391--the Infinity originally had a 7/8" rib , I had Dennis add the Ultra rib and he made a higher comb--the real problem is the grip to trigger distance the Infinity is about 1/2" longer
Try setting your 391 higher on your shoulder to see if it gives more of the heads up look your seeking, before you go to the trouble of lowering your pad.
1/2" on a shotgun stock is equal to a million miles. I would guess until you solve that issue, changing the recoil pad will not get you the mileage you are after.
All my guns have adj. pads--moving them --no big deal-the big ?-is how to set the clock back 20 years
You could shorten the PISTOL GRIP to match the 391, if it is thicker than the 391, narrowing it will help also. Give a call to Wenigs about your problem 660-547-3334 GB.............................DLD
