Are there any trapshooters that made an impact in your life or you look up to? I will reserve my answer. FL
Have met Harlan Campbell, Nora Ross and Leo Harrison III. Learned a little from all of them. Grew up about 20 miles south of where Leo was from.
Actually there were a few. When I first started shooting a few shooters sort of took me under their wing, Bob Whitehead, a many time All American and close personal friend and two, now deceased shooters, Stanley Bystrek and Martin Berk. All New Jersey shooters. Later I took lessons from Kay Ohye which took me to a whole other level. Ed Yanchok
I have many but these two were special to me. Neil Massie of Jamestown Ohio and later The Silver Dollar and Marvin Dawson of Sabina Ohio.
As Robb, I have many but these two were special. At the old Fort Wayne Winchester Club, Ralph Braden (Indiana State Handicap Champion in 1972 at age 67) helped every new shooter he could including myself. The other was Bill Cooley, who in my opinion was not only a good shooter, but a man of sterling character, and was one of my closest lifelong friends. Both are greatly missed.
Terry Zaplatta signed my ATA card. He is that guy that shot a perfect 500 straight (singles) on a windy day. And they were 3 hole targets. Then that Dysinger guy. The first and maybe only ATA All Americans that not only knew where the bodies are buried but has been talking about it from day one. The truth isn't always popular. And Dave Berlet.....as Dysinger says.....don't shoot against this guy for food. And Longshot. A man you have to meet. Someone you hate to love but doc is doc and I admire that.
I have met and enjoyed so many people because of Trap Shooting who I consider friends it would be very difficult for me to try and sort them out ... Each one is Unique in their own special way, then there are always those you never would of missed meeting but they are few and far between ... Doc is SPECIAL, but he is my Buddy ... Thank God and Bless the USA ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
How about adding a lady's name to the mix -- Cathy wehinger -- 2001 .9953--ATA high singles average -- And always a great man behind the women -- Larry her ace in the hole to keep everyone gun shooting.
