This Colt was engraved, like so many factory Colts of late, by an outside engraver, and this is one of Larry Peters' finest in my opinion. Larry engraved many factory Colts, and many bespoke english double guns. Larry passed away in August 2017 of stage 4 pancreatic cancer. He lived in Odessa, Washington, and was a member of both the Firearms Eng. Guild of America, and the American Custom Gunmakers' Guild. He was a very high respected engraver. I have seen some of his other work, and it really is magnificent. This Colt is one of his nicest examples, with pre-ban ivory grips, 5.5" barrel, unfired, with original box. His name is engraved on face of ejector rod housing. Nickel finish, and just overall a fine example of Colt quality, and the best engraving available. After some research, I found that Larry engraved guns for Holland and Holland also. I do not have a letter from Colt, since they informed me that this SAA was probably contracted to be engraved, and upgraded by a client after its purchase as an original blued, plain SAA from a dealer, as many were. Colt informed me that they sent clients who wanted to upgrade their SAA, a list of names of master engravers. Larry was one of those on the list. I am asking $6500 or best offer. Please send me message if you would like to discuss, and I thank you for taking the time to look at this.
Thanks Steve. Hard to get all the detail in pictures, but even the inside of loading gate is engraved. Engraving is very well done in every way. Front sight blade is done also.
