Dick Bennett was an interesting guy. And put together not only the book but a wonderful trap club near Muskego WI named Boxhorn's. Many good Wisconsin shooters broke targets at Boxhorn's including ATA AA Jack Gracey. Gracey, Bennett, Vic Reinders and Frank Hoppe put together an annual clinic for budding trap shooters that drew well over a hundred participants each year. I missed that time frame, but got to know Bennett, Gracey and Hoppe as I began my ATA shooting. Broke my first 25 in 86 at Boxhorn's and was told to go back out and shoot another and I backed up with another 25. Those were 1100 days for me.
Yes Dick was one of the few, who bent over backwards to help any shooter. I'm proud to say a good friend of mine. I shot with him, Jack, Vic, Harry(Smith), Loreen (Kaluser) and lots of others at Boxhorns. Broke 50X50 in the jackpot won $1600 that Sunday. Those were the good old days.
Being a Pacific Northwest shooter I never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Bennett. I do remember what I think was a eulogy that he wrote upon the passing of his daughter who worked at Boxhorn. It was beautiful.
