What is the difference between MX3 Special barrels and MX8 barrels? Same style of receiver. How do you tell? Asking to get a little smarter from the experts, thanks.
Just an abreviated comment. Obvious it is a square mono Special set. And the difference is a square mono block MX3 Special WILL NOT fit into a round mono block MX3. However there is a rare exception. Likely, you will never see one in your lifetime
FYI the MX3 Special as well as the round mono block MX3 barrel ribs are the same height. The MX3 rib height is about 1/8" higher then the MX8 ribs. The MX3 o/u barrels have no side ventilated rids. The MX3 Special barrels will fit MX8 receivers. The MX3 Special was discontinued in 1992 I believe. All MX3,s had 18.4-18.5 bores or there about. .725+-. MX3 Specials had internal selectable triggers. The MX3 was before the Special. The MX3 fired top barrel first only. Therefore on the MX3 O/U the top barrel was the more open choke and bottom barrel was tighter choke. Both of these models were shooting machines. They could be perchased with Perazzi second Generation choke tubes.(treads towards breech of the gun not the muzzle) The O/u barrels didn't have the option of choke tubes.
