Back in 1957, Ed Scherer told his story which was reprinted in the August 1958 Trap & Field issue: Enjoy Our History !
Great old gent, took a clinic from him in 93,funny and friendly.More than I can say about a trap shooter I took a clinic from in 03.
Ed was a great sporting clays shot too !!!! ... I enjoy reading his paperback, " Ed Scherer on Sporting Clays", which he published back in March 1983. If you ever find a copy, buy it. Mine is personally autographed. He was a WW2 fighter pilot also. He was a real first class gentleman, and very approachable to talk anything shooting related.
Ed bird hunted a lot with Todd Bender back in the day also. Todd is another first class shooter/teacher.
I can't recall the year but Todd Bender had a perfect 100 average in 20ga. one season on 1600 registered targets.
