Who is the idiot that said we should be shooting for points instead of money? Who thought encouraging trapshooters to shop for the easiest targets would be good for the sport? Somewhere in a room a group got together and said no more shooting for cars. Who thought creating a special added point system to prop up a losing venue was the the ticket?

    My rants over!

You’re right to be angry. The shift to a points-based, prize-less system took the soul out of competitive trapshooting. It turned a sport of skill and nerve into a game of math and logistics. I still shoot, I love the game too much to quit but I do it at clubs that still run money shoots on the side, where the old spirit is still alive. The ATA’s version of the sport? I participate because I have to if I want to stay in the game, but I don’t pretend it’s what it used to be.

The guy who thought points should replace cars should have to shoot a 100 straight on a wobble trap in the wind before he ever gets to sit in another committee meeting.

We don't need no stinkin points!

The vast majority of active trapshooters couldn't care less about who is an "all american" much less name three!

But like most of you, I can absolutely name the top trapshooters in my area who take the money at all the local Calcutta's.
