One of our trap houses is always wet.-- Complained last year - all they did was put the boxes up on a pallet -- house is opened up once a week for six hours -- Pat traps --am I over think this? -Last two years have been extra wet -- can't be good for the machine and electronics? What does other clubs due? -Dehumidifier ? Fans? -Water sealer? -Or no problem? --Skeeters and sporter officers don't think its anything to worry about.
One of our trap houses gets damp with the rain. Installed sump pump, targets on blocks. Planning on painting walls with dry lock. We do run a fan almost all the time. Pat trap is working fine. Haven't had any rust issues, Having Steve Huber come in next week for a check up of our 2 traps. Skeeters and sporter officers think their is no problem because they don't want to do any maintenance work.
Our club is located where the groundwater table is very high. ...Trap houses have sump pits and sump pumps. ...The pumps cycle all year. Targets are on shelves approx. 12" above floor level, and kept away from the walls to prevent moisture wicking into the cardboard. Vents (approx. 6" x 12") are installed near the top of the side walls, and help with air circulation when the house is closed. High humidity does not seem to affect the Pat or SuperStar machines. ....Flooding, however, does !! ....The pump/motor/reservoir for the Pat traps is mounted well-above floor level.
We placed 8"x16" vents where cement blocks would be in our houses. and Targets on wood shelves. We found that placing them on concrete block risers, the blocks would "wick" the moisture into the cardboard, and that didn't work at all. We also had a fan blowing towards the targets all the time. Worked for us
