BT99 repair

Got a friend you recently purchased an old BT99. Looks and might even be my old BT99 that I shot for a few years in the 80s. 71 model. Anyway if you put an empty into chamber and snap the trigger, then open gun it will eject hull, but if you put a live shell in chamber and shoot it - it will not eject hull but will just lift it.

It's been 30 years since I had a BT but had one that did the same thing, and I remember it as being a simple repair but I sure as heck can't remember what the heck I did to correct the problem before I sold it off. I remember repairing it myself but just can't remember what I did.

Been 30 years since I messed with a Browning but wasn't that quite common for BTs?

Anybody know the trick/repair to get it to eject after shooting a live shell?

 

Replace it with a Perazzi, I just happen to have a nice combo set for sale ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

Had the same problem with my BT-99. Remove the ejector trip rod and bend it ever so slight. This will create enough friction to keep the rod forward. You need some friction to keep the rod forward under recoil. Also if you reload replace the ejector spring with a firing pin spring from a 1911 pistol. Bumps the shell far enough to grab. I did this on my Bt-99 and Bt-100.

 

The extractor rod is bent wrong. Roger C.
