Real competition Trapshooting, are you good enough to shoot them, Would you shoot them, give me 1 1/8th oz of Nickle #6s @ 1300fps, Sporting Clay Loads.

Remember in the early years they shot 1 1/4oz loads.

Truly competitive trapshooting has been reduced to fun and games for the most part ... I have seen numerous shooters (game shooters) go and break targets from 50 yards behind the trap house going to 60 yards away, high, low , second shots smoked, because it is all just fun and games ... I have seen and watched some of those same shooters not be able to break 75/100 in registered or a special event from the 20 yard line ... I shot with a few and ventured into buying a few in special events only to have my money go more as a donation to the other shooters (got what I deserved) ... In all fairness it would not be logical or reasonable to limit the winners of the grand to only (established) 27 yard shooters, thus eliminating those who have not made it to the back fence ... The mid and short yardage shooters have to be considered and given just as much consideration as the long yardage shooters, there has to be a way to sort out the "All of a Sudden, got Lucky" shooters from the rest of the field ... I have felt for a long time that all handicap shooting should be from the 27 yard line ( or at least 25 yard line) and people be classified as they are in singles and doubles, this would no doubt create and send shock waves to the now middle and short yardage shooters even before it was tested ... I do feel longer wider targets have some merit but with some modifications to make and let the handicap system work as it was designed to in the first place and some how eliminate the cheaters . (sandbaggers ) ...
The established "PROS" have to be separated from the general shooting population so they shoot against each other for their monies ... (PROS give clinics, lessons, sell DVD's, get gun deals, shells deals, sponsors, etc , etc ...) If a 27/ D shooter breaks and wins with a score of 50/100 so be it, same with 27/B, 27/C, 27 / A, etc ... The technology that exists today would simplify the classification systems with a push of the button ... The game was built on Integrity and sportsmanship, some how, some where along the way that got ignored and eliminated to become what it has ended up being today ... I agree with DLS, but with slight modifications to his ways of getting it done ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

I think this venue would separate the PRO's. The average shooters would have their hands full.
I would like to see a Trap machine set up to those parameters and see some results.

American Trap clearly needs to get tougher, but the old guys, in the main, don't want change, and they've chased away all the new blood with fresh ideas.

The Max yard line should have been where the GAH Champion should be decided, all other Yardages ARE YARDAGE CHAMPS. In GOLF the low score wins. In Basketball High score Wins, In Football High Score wins, In Baseball High Score wins, In Horse racing fastest Horse wins, I watched Frisbee yesterday, high score wins, Raleigh Beat Texas.

Trapshooting is a game of Perfection, Be the Best You Can Be.

In Singles everyone shoots from the 16yd line, Why is Handicap any different, 2 yardage lines, 16yd & Max ATA Yardage.

Yardage wins now, To Me is a Yardage win. Each yardage should shoot for their own money.

The Big Boys can only win their money..

Why not split the Handicap Money into 8 equal monies, 20-21-22-23-24-25-26-27. This would be the Fairest way, sand bagging will always be around.

    BUT NEVER BY ME.

IF shell Mfgrs gave each yardage the same amount of New Shells to that ydg , it's a Win, Win Solution. 10 Flats to each yardage, From Winchester, Remington, Federal, RIO, B&G, Ties Divide that would be at least 50 flats to yardage winner.

I think this would be a BOOM to Then ATA and SPARTA, All State Shoots could do the same.

Gary --- Had to check out your wide angle 27 yard shooting-- our one trap house has a skeet house over lay -- shot 27 yard trap out of the skeet houses and it did separate the men from the boy -- next fun day I will be doing this to get you 70 yard meat shooters weeded out. Ron

Would this new shoot be named the Grand American yardage Championship because it no longer be a handicap event.

This is one of the first threads from back in the good old days right after doc and joe got pitched from the kool aid site for speaking up. So joe started americantrapshooter and the rest is history. Any newbie shou;ld re read these old threads to see what this site is about. Too bad a lot of these posters are no longer with us, it seems like a lot longer than 8 yrs ago, dosen't it?

I think a lot of today's posters have suffered the same fate as doc and joe. It's hard to believe I never got pitched from the kool aid drinkers even though one of the HOF trustees wanted to throw me out of the HOF for having a less than steller opinion of the EC and ATA and HOF. They will probably wait until I'm dead to do it but I plan on out living them, just like I did Winston.

heck, they pitched me for just warning parents not to send kids to team shoots in cramped vans back when covid first hit the east. it hadn't hit the Midwest yet and I told them... first hand, being I was in ct and people were dropping dead, that it wasn't something to fool about. they pitched me for causing panic when members complained.
2 weeks later it hit the midwest.
I will always know in my heart that I was saving lives by warning them.
so...if they don't care all that much about kids or life and death, how can they be serious over the ata?
    got me. im stumped.
