I bought a Bavaria grade K80. I am sending it to Phillips to install release triggers. Phillips installs Countercoil recoil reducers. I have a fused, and arthritic neck, I need recoil reduction. Is Countercoil as good as others in that $500. installed price range? What does it look like when installed? I hate making this pretty wood look any worse than it has too. Thanks in advance for any input.
Steve, IMHO I believe you would be better suited using a PFS. The adjustability and recoil reduction for your circumstances is priceless. Yes, they do take getting used to both visually and function but in the long run, you will not regret it. Plus, that wood doesn't get chopped up and you can either sell the stock and offset your cost or keep it tucked away in case you elect to sell the gun down the road. Happy to send you a couple pics of my k80s with PFS stocks if you'd like. PM me if so. Good shooting, Rey
Thanks Rey, I haven't considered a PFS. A left hand shooting friend swears by them. He claims they tame recoil better than any other he has tried.
Steve, I agree with Rey...I would go with the Precision stock...it's not permanent, and it definitely reduces recoil. I like mine especially for the cheek- no slap.
I'd also agree with a PFS. I got one just for the adjustability to get the gun to fit. I didn't even know about the recoil reduction till after I bought it.
Never liked a PFS, too many screws, bolts, nuts etc. Not saying anything about the nut behind the wheel
I shot C Coil's for yrs. and always thought they were the best buy for the dollar. I'm sure PFS is good, but never cared for the appearance of them on a gun If ya don't have high grade wood, go ahead and do a C Coil you won't be sorry.
Same as Ljutic329 comments but would add that the customer support from the Counter Coil manufacturer is great.
I shot a combo league tonight. One of the guy's had a rad on his kolar trap gun. He claimed it reduces recoil enough for him to shoot 300 bird days without fatigue. Talked to Tom Larkin, he installs rad. Tom fixed up the stock I'm currently shooting. He did an excellent job and was really fast. He's going to be at Linn Creek this week end. I will probably going with him and rad. Thoughts appreciated.
Counter coils Graco’s and RAD pretty much work the same but my preference is the rad more adjustments for the shooter
The Rad, counter coil ect. All ad weight to the gun the PFS for extra $ you can get wood cheek Piece, and grip with palm swell.
