Belgium Browning Superposed 28 Gauge. A gunsmith has owned this Browning for almost 20 years and it has worked flawlessly all that time. He used it and a 28 gauge Parker repro only for woodcock hunting. At the time he purchased the gun the forend had a lot of the finish missing and he only refinished it to preserve the wood. The gun has 26 1/2 inch barrels bored Skeet & Skeet. The length of pull is just a hair short of full length and the previous owner put a pad on it . The rubber pad on a field gun works much better than the hard but plate. The hard butt plate moves after the first shot is fired making it harder to get a good second shot. From the serial # it looks like the gun was made in 1968 He just this year stopped going to Maine to hunt woodcock and that is why it is for sale. This gun has been shot very little for its age and he is sure it has a lot of life left in it. Serial Number: 242F8 Price: $4950 Reasonable offers considered
Hi Jim, Based on information from the serial number 242F8 the manufacture date would be in the 1968 range. The year is now 2019, some 41 years later and the gun is in excellent condition. However, based only on curiosity we plan to do the test in the coming week. I trust you are interested in purchasing the Browning and not simply raising questions for the sake of questions. I will post the results once complete.
Please don't take offense to Jim's question. Any informed buyer will ask you the same; you may try to remove a screw from the butt pad and post a picture of it. This is a great gun, I am sure you will sell it here. Best Regards
Thanks cold trail and you are correct. I was not trying To create a problem because it appears Rudy2315 has a Very nice little 28ga. Superposed. No need to do a formal test If by removing a screw from the butt does NOT show Corrosion. 1966 to 1972 was the salt era for Browning. You have A 1968 gun. Anyone buying your gun would be aware Of this potential issue. You have it priced in the right range and it will Sell easily. Good luck with the sale. Regards Jim Veta
