The Iconic Big board at the Grand was one of the most watched media sources at Vandalia. This pic was 1977. Maybe your name is on this one? May post others...if I can find them.

Funny isn't it?Just looking at a picture of the "Big Board" puts a smile on your face.
Right year but a day early for mine.

 

I shot with Richard at a small club in Mi many times.

 

2-100's ... with NO D-class 100's ............ Those were the days ... LOL

 

Remember, that's only a 100 of a 200 bird event and they only left the names up until they took the official picture. They then erased the names and posted new ones, as they came in. 16 yard scores had to be over 98 and handicap scores had to be over 95 to make "The Big Board"
Ed Yanchok

 

I'm bumping this to the top for Ed.

 

Ed Yanchok was a friend to everyone and served New Jersey shooters for several decades in various elected and volunteer positions.

A salute to the "Stock Doctor" and "Big Guy" past ATA State Delegate and NJ Trapshooting Hall of Famer, Ed Yanchok.

Obituary of Edward Steven Yanchok​

Edward Steven Yanchok, age 79, passed away on Saturday March 30th, 2019 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset in Somerville NJ. Born in Newark, Ed grew up in Union, resided shortly in Springfield, then moved to Warren 58 years ago.

He graduated from Union High School in 1958, where he was the state wrestling champion. Ed began his career as lifelong builder working with his father.

Ed was very active in the Warren PTA when his children were going to school, was a former member of the Warren Board of Adjustments and member of the Jaycees.

Ed’s favorite past time was trapshooting. Most of his free time was spent at the trap club talking to friends, shooting and mentoring new shooters. Throughout his shooting career he held several positions in the state trapshooting association and won many trophies. His shooting career highlights included being the 1998 High All Around winner of A class, shooting and breaking the last target at the Vandalia Grand American and shooting a record 60,500 registered targets with a 95.44 average in a single year. He will be deeply missed by all his fellow trap shooters. You can see more about his trapshooting career here.

Ed is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Mary (O’Hara) Yanchok, his son Edward Steven Yanchok Jr., daughter Laura Poniatowski, her husband Robert, and his grandson Lucas Yanchok.

A visitation will be on Friday 1 to 3 pm and 6 to 9 pm at Higgins Home for Funerals 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung NJ 07069.
