Looking for a good load that will smoke them on the 16 yd. and pound them in Handicap 25 yd. I quit shooting 12 yrs. ago so Im little rusty on reloading. Im currently using Green Dot powder.
What happened nobody reloads anymore, I did see shelves of AA's at Wal-Mart this morning for $7.84 a box. With the $2.00 rebate that makes them cheap.
I load 19.6g of green dot using Fiochi or Winchester primers, STS or AA hulls with Claybuster CB 8100-12 wad, 1oz 7.5 Ken J
For the best cheapest re-loading use the following components 19grs Promo, Top Gun Hull, RIO Primer, Windjammer 1 18th oz wad, 8s or 7.5s Mag Shot Avoid Federal Primers, some have deep seated cups, and do not fire, Rio primers are about $109 per 5,000, Promo Powder is the cheapest, no problems, have used 8-8lb kegs, Rio primers seat flush, no mis fires. Once you use Rios in a hull must keep using them, I toss the Top Guns after 1st loading, there is bushels of them around. RIO Hulls load the same, Gary Bryant Dr.longshot
You can google federal premium reaload data pdf and look at page 3 of 5 from Federal and they list Federal Top Gun Paper Base Wad Hulls 3 Dram 1200 fps 209A 12s3 wad Green Dot 21 grains at 8000 psi, nice load frotrap or sporting. Hope this helps out some. For 1 ounce load in a Top Gun hull I use alliant reload data for a Federal Gold Medal hull Hope this helps or gives you some ideas of where to look for some reloading data...George
believe you can put chedites and fiochi 616's in the same hull stretching category. Have found the rule of thumb is if it is green(rem) load american primers in it.
+1 on that idea Then you sell the hulls for a couple cents a piece and the price is $5.34 a box for AA Top Guns, steel rim, $54.00 a flat = $5.40 a box
In my Gold Medal hulls for 1oz load 18gr green dot with Federal 12SO wad, for 1 1/8oz I use 19.5 green with Downrange DRHF3 which works awesome and is 8 petal wad. I use Federal 209A primers for all. Gary
It always puzzles me as to why people seem to ignore the wealth of TESTED loads that the powder manufacturers provide for free? Anything else is likely no more than apocryphal. I loaded tens of thousands of green things with the 616 primers. Actually I loaded thousands of most anything with 616's. If you just buy one kind of primer and just use one kind of primer in everything your life is much simpler. The 616's are also pretty cost effective. Promo, Claybuster, and 616's. Yum!
I have loaded GM Hulls since the beginning of time. By far the best load that I have found for handicap is 19.5 grains of Green Dot CB-6118 Wad Fed 209A Primer 11/8 of premium Magnum Shot. This load will surprise you. Believe me! This load is listed at 1145 FPS but it's much faster. The pressure is listed around 7000 PSI Great Handicap load. However if you want to kick it up increase powder drop to 20 to 20.5 Grains and it will hang with any new handicap load new or reloaded! By far I have found that the CB 6118 is the best Wad for the GM hull because of its wider diameter at the base. Which runs about .725-.729. It's fit is perfect in the straight wall hull design of the GM. I don't load any junk Hulls!
